Here are players who stood out in the contest:
Alexis Even
Alexis Even
Even does it all for the Dons. The co-captain piled up team-highs in kills (19) and digs (30) during the four matches in this event. She’s a six-rotation player that can impact the proceedings from all around the court on offense and defense.
Claire Jarrett
Claire Jarrett
Jarrett proved during the squad’s first competition of the year that she’s going to be there for her teammates. She dished out 71 assists in the four matches here, while adding six kills (one error), 18 digs and 4.0 Blocks. She positions herself well for passes and delivers the ball with touch and accuracy. As evidence by her statistics in this event, she contributes beyond her setter duties.
Emily Coleman
Emily Coleman
After pounding out 174 kills as a junior last year, Coleman got her senior season off to a great start. She led the Bears with 25 kills in four matches at this invitational with only four errors (.429 efficiency). She added a team-best 6.0 blocks and also contributed six digs. She’s a valuable, two-way player for the Bears.
Klinckkammer scooped her way to 303 digs last season. In this event, she recorded 17 digs. The senior illustrated progress as a six-rotation player here as well. She produced 14 kills and led her team with six service aces. Klinckkammer sees the court well and moves fluidly around it.
Madelynn Falco
Madelynn Falco
Falco paced the Bears with 389 digs as a sophomore in ’22. She recorded 20 of them here while her six assists ranked second on the squad. Falco does a good job positioning herself in serve-receive and before the opponent sets up hits in system. She’s a good athlete and technically sound at her position.
Addison Schares
Addison Schares
Schares started her varsity career in fine fashion, leading the Dons with 68 assists in the four matches at the West Branch Invitational. She added 13 digs and three kills. Schares appeared very comfortable setting up her teammates and showed a good feel for putting the ball where they could do damage. She anticipates passes well and quickly gets into position to use them.
Kennedi McGarvey
Kennedi McGarvey
McGarvey proved as a sophomore in ’22 that she would be a factor in matches with 272 kills, 293 digs and 22.0 blocks. In this event, she ranked second among Dons in kills (18) and digs (25), while adding two assists and a block. That all-around skill set allows for her coaches and teammates to have confidence in her no matter where she lines up on the court.
