Some say that numbers do not lie and we have the numbers that are being reported by coaches across the state. California is one of the best states in the nation when it comes to this wonderful sport and we are here to highlight all of our amazing players. Let’s meet a few of the middles who are dominating at the net for their squads.
MacKenzie Parsons MacKenzie Parsons 6'2" | MB Poway | 2024 State #189 Nation CA [2024] 6-2 Middle (HS: Poway/Club: Coast/Verbal: Uncommitted)
MacKenzie is currently ranked as the 21st best overall prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays out of the middle at Poway High School and also stars in club for the Coast volleyball program. Miss Parsons currently leads the state right now in kills with 295 kills in 562 attempts and only 46 errors. This equates to an astronomical .443 hitting percentage. I love how efficient she is in scoring at a high clip. She has been stellar ever since she stepped on the court for her varsity squad as a sophomore. Her senior season is no different as she leads her team in scoring. There is not a route that she cannot run with precision and power from the middle. My favorite is how she runs her slide. I think it is one of her most powerful attacks that scores almost at-will. Please congratulate her on being one of the top middle performers in the entire state.
Emma Machado [2025] 5-11 Middle (HS: Garces Memorial/Club: Bakersfield/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Emma is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Garces Memorial High School and also plays for Bakersfield Volleyball club. Miss Machado currently has the second most kills amongst all middles in the entire state of California. She is working extremely hard at being available for her setter and putting the ball away when given the opportunity. I have seen Emma play during the club season and she was masterful. She has brought the same intensity and skills acquired during the club season to her high school squad. Her junior season has given her a much more emphasized role in the team’s game plan for their offensive scheme. I really like what I see from Emma and will be watching her very closely moving forward. She ahs also stepped it up from the service line with 42 aces on the year. Blocking-wise she has been a beast at the net. She currently has 50 total blocks with 19 of them being solo blocks. Her play is one huge reason why GMHS has a 21-6 overall record. Stay tuned for more.
Jenna Hanes Jenna Hanes 6'3" | MB Cathedral Catholic | 2024 State #76 Nation CA [2024] 6-3 Middle (HS: Cathedral Catholic/Club: Wave/Verbal: Michigan)
Jenna is currently ranked as the 4th best overall prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Cathedral Catholic High School and for the nationally recognized Wave volleyball club. Miss Hanes is very well-known by every volleyball publication for her stellar play during the club season. She is one big reason why her team is widely considered one of the best high school team’s in the country this year. The six foot three superb talent can crank the ball wherever she wants to with any route in the middle route tree. Her footwork is precise and super quick. Rarely does her foot stick to the ground as it bounces off of the hardwood court to get her to the ball. Her arm swing can be classified as dynamic and should be a viable weapon for any team she is on. She is committed to playing volleyball at the next level at the University of Michigan and should be a solid option added to their established program. By being one of the kill leaders in the entire state this season, we have chosen her as a player to watch from the middle position.
