Some say that numbers do not lie and we have the numbers that are being reported by coaches across the state. California is one of the best states in the nation when it comes to this wonderful sport and we are here to highlight all of our amazing players. Let’s meet a few of the players who are killing it on the court!
Taylor Yu Taylor Yu 6'0" | S Temple City | 2024 State #15 Nation CA [2024] 6-0 Outside/Setter (HS: Temple City/Club: SG Elite/Verbal: Stanford)
Taylor is currently ranked as the 11th best overall prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She is also ranked as the 15th best overall prospect in our National Rankings also. She stars for Temple City High School and for the SG Elite Volleyball club. Miss Yu is very well-known by us at Prep Dig as we have covered her for a while now. This young lady has prototypical size and skills for the next level. She is a very skilled setter and hits at an elite level as well. This season so far she has amassed 375 kills on a super impressive .471 hitting percentage. That means that she is almost unstoppable from the offensive end. Every night she is a problem for opposing head coaches to try to game plan for. Routinely she is racking up double digit kills each match. Miss Yu is a wonderfully talented young lady who is committed to playing college volleyball at Stanford next year. Please help us congratulate her on being one of the best attackers in the state this year.
Keonahi’ilani Solaita Keonahi’ilani Solaita 5'10" | OH Oak Hills | 2025 State CA [2025] 5-9 Outside (HS: Oak Hills/Club: Forza1 North/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Keonahi’ilani is currently ranked as the 54th best overall prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays volleyball at Oak Hills High School and will play club for the Forza1 North volleyball program this season. I have written a few articles on her before and here is the latest one form this summer, “Miss Soliata is a silky smooth OH2 who doesn’t come off of the court and does so much for this special team in the ball control side. Her defense is phenomenal as she is able to collapse her entire body well during hard driven balls to absorb the contact. When you watch her play, you see a player who can do it all on the court and has a very high volleyball IQ. While there are players who are taller, she does not make many errors and hits at a very efficient clip from multiple attack angles.” Ever since she stepped foot on the varsity squad as a freshman, she has produced on the offensive side of the ball. That kind of consistency shows just how special she truly is on the court. This season is no different as she has tallied 295 kills so far and is scoring at a phenomenal rate with a .373 hitting percentage. She is two kills shy of a wonderful record of 1000 kills for her high school career, which she will no doubt hit at her next match. Please help us congratulate her on being named one of the best outside hitters in the state of California.
Avery Starr Avery Starr OH Tulare Western | 2024 State CA [2024] 5-10 Outside (HS: Tulare Western/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Avery is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but is on our official watch list. She stars on the court for Tulare Western High School. Miss Starr has been shining very bright this season as she is one of the top kill leaders in the state of California. Currently she sits at 364 kills on a .259 hitting percentage. She is on pace to break her own kill totals from each year she has been on varsity. Her senior season is going to be her best one yet. The six rotation outside hitter has been phenomenal in serve receive and on the defensive end for her squad also. She is truly a special player that knows how to play the game at a very high level. Please help us congratulate her on such a wonderful high school season and being listed as one of the best hitters in the entire state of California.
