The only teams from out of state have beaten the Eagles so far. St. James, KS, and Southside, AR. Big wins over Liberty North and Kickapoo help move Nixa into the first in this week’s rankings. 2. Lafayette Lancers 14-2
Lafayette won the tough Rockwood Tournament with big wins over St. James, KS, Kickapoo, Liberty North, and a win over Eureka. Mia Moser does the dirty work for the Lancers. In the MOKAN Tournament in Kansas City over the weekend Lee’s Summit West and St. Thomas Aquinas, KS knocked off the Lancers both were 1-2 defeats.
3. Marquette Mustangs 17-3
The Mustangs are my surprise team of the year. St. James, KS, and Cor Jesu have knocked off the Mustangs but had big wins over St. Joseph’s and Kickapoo. Over the weekend the Mustangs traveled to Tennessee and had huge wins over McGill-Toolen and Hazel Green from Alabama and wins over Tennesee teams Father Ryan, Nolensville, and Maryville, and then lost to Cleveland, TN. 4. Kickapoo Chiefs 17-4
Some will say that Kickapoo is a little high in the rankings but they’ve lost to Lafayette, Nixa, Marquette, and Eureka but have a big win over Ozark. Kickapoo did knock off the same Southside, AR team that beat Nixa and Ozark.
5. Ozark Tigers 12-2
Kickapoo knocked off Ozark 0-3 in the second match of the year and a loss to Southside, AR over the weekend. Ozark went to Illinois and won the Effingham Classic with a massive win over Illinois powerhouse Wheaton St. Francis. Ozark has the potential to be a tremendous team come playoff time. Reece Cook Reece Cook 5'7" | S Ozark | 2025 State MO has the Tigers off to a great start.
6. Liberty North Eagles 7-4
The Eagles came to the Rockwood Tournament and left with losses to Lafayette, Nixa, and Marquette and had a big win over Lee’s Summit West to stay top in the Kansas City area. They played in the MOKAN Tournament over the weekend but as of this morning, no results for the Eagles have been updated.
7. Lee’s Summit West Titans 13-5
At the Rockwood Tournament, the Titans suffered only one loss and that was to Marquette in 3. Then a couple of days later had a reverse sweep of Blue Springs South. In the MOKAN Tournament, the Titans lost to Olathe Northwest and Blue Valley North both from Kansas. The highlight of the season so far has been the first team from Missouri to knock off the defending state champions Lancers from Lafayette.
8. Blue Springs South Jaguars 13-4
Jaelynn Tunley Jaelynn Tunley 5'9" | OH Blue Springs South | 2025 State MO is leading the attack for the Jaguars as a tough-hitting outside. The only losses have been to Liberty North and Lee’s Summit West and both were in 5. In the MOKAN Tournament Lafayette and Bishop Miege knocked off the Jaguars over the weekend.
9. Eureka Wildcats 8-5
I’ll catch heat for this one but Eureka started the year 7-0 and then lost their next five. But those losses were to Lafayette, Liberty North, Lee’s Summit West, St. Joseph’s Academy, and St. James, KS.
10. Francis Howell Vikings 13-5
Howell knocked off previous unbeaten Timberland and every loss has been to a ranked team. Incarnate Word, St. Pius X, Blue Springs South, Marquette, and Eureka. The Vikings would win the St. Joseph’s Academy Tournament over the weekend.
