Continue ReadingThe 2025 Florida rankings are finally out! I want to emphasize the top of the list because of its variety of athleticism, skill, and understanding of the game. We are going to take a look at the top prospects at each position in the top 10 of the recently dropped rankings that came out on Monday. When initially creating a rankings list, I really look for the aspects that college coaches would be looking at when recruiting these players along with my own projection on how I can see these athletes improve before they are up and off to college. Two of the biggest aspects to the game I look for outside of the size and athleticism is the volleyball IQ and the consistency at which that player is able to use good technique while playing at some of the highest levels. The athletes I am going to write about brought the whole package. I won’t be surprised if they make a big impact on their teams this upcoming school and club seasons.
Charlotte Glass Charlotte Glass 6'1" | S Saint Andrews | 2025 State #14 Nation FL – S @ Tribe (#1)
Charlotte is one of the most dynamic setters I have seen come out of Florida in some time. Not only is she smooth; she runs a great offense with the exceptional pieces she has around her. She runs her offense off of her ability to be offensive with her own attacks as well as using the speed of her offense to open up her hitters. Her offensive prowess as a setter is up there if not at the top of the nation; using her left hand to bounce balls on defenders when in the front row. She also uses her offensive prowess in the backrow utilizing two handed dumps in the open spots of the court. Charlotte does a fantastic job of being able to control the blockers eyes and to pull that middle blocker away from her pin hitters, who are also some of the best in the state of Florida. Not many setters have the ability to have such an offensive game while still spreading out the ball to her top hitters, two of which are included in this list. Not only is her offense lethal, but her blocking and digging on defense ain’t too shabby either. Charlotte projects as an all around player with distinct qualities that put her above the rest in her class on my rankings list for 2025. Duke is getting a special one at setter in 2025.
Kelly Kinney Kelly Kinney 6'2" | OH The King’s Academy | 2025 State #15 Nation FL – OH @ Tribe (#2)
Kelly is not only a dynamic hitter on offense but uses her skills all throughout the court. She has great ball control for a prospect of her size, which is rare. She uses all of her height, length, and athleticism to place or kill the ball anywhere she wants to. One of the most impressive parts about Kelly’s game is her arm swing. Not only is she contacting at her peak consistently, but she does a fantastic job swinging fast while using her body to generate power. She also has the ability to use just her arm swing to pull off no look shots away from where her body is facing. With that type of range on top of the arm swing itself, she’s almost unstoppable on the offensive end. When it comes to the defensive side of the ball, her blocking is out of this world. All the times I have been able to watch her in person or on film she has consistently showed the eye work and positioning necessary to be a dominant blocker at the next level. She uses her athleticism to hang in the air on tips but also uses it just as well to press over the net for a stuff block. Kelly is one of the best pin hitters I have seen come out of Florida in a long time, and it makes sense why Minnesota jumped on the opportunity to bring her into their program in 2025.
Hazel Alevok Hazel Alevok 6'7" | MB IMG Academy | 2025 State #53 Nation FL – M @ Wildfire (#3)
Hazel has the length and height that college coaches dreams of. The best part is that she uses all of that height and length to her advantage when attacking or blocking. She has the footwork and balance to be able to run sets across the net whether it be a quick 3 all the way to a slide on the opposite side. The best part is she understands the timing and technique with her footwork that allows her to explode behind the ball and keep the ball in front. When she finally gets off the ground you can see early on that she uses all of her height and length reaching over the ball and driving it down. On offense not only does she have the range of running different sets, but on those different steps she’s able to turn and manipulate the ball to both ends of the court. The best part of watching her game for me has to be her blocking. Not only is she getting super high above the net, but she makes an emphasis of driving her arms over the net to grab the ball. She does such a good job of pressing that it forces hitters to have to stay clear of her completely or they are going to get stuff blocked. UCLA is getting a great prospect that still has so much room to grow as a player.
Alexa Haley Alexa Haley 5'4" | DS/L Seacrest Country Day | 2025 State FL – L @ Gulfside (#7)
Alexa is the aggressive libero that picks up everything but looks so calm while doing it. Her platform is always solid, never having to really swing or pull off of contact. She does a great job of tracking and keeping space away from her body to allow the ball to stay in front. She creates angles early off of contact so she has the ability to watch through her whole pass. She’s really a dynamic player at the position, but looks so smooth that it almost seems like she’s not trying hard enough; but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Alexa is a dynamic defender not only because of her fundamentals but because of her ability to read offenses and hitters before they even hit the ball. She puts herself in great position on defense to get her body behind the ball, which allows her to keep her posture and create angles early to target. Alexa is one of the easiest watches in person and on film because she makes everything look so easy. On serve receive she allows her hitters to transition early or at worst feel comfortable knowing that they have her taking almost half of the court. It’s not just the fact that her team asks her to take that much space, but the few times that teams decide to test her range they are usually the ones having to revert to serving a different player or spot on the court. I can’t wait to see the improvement she makes over her last two school and club seasons before killing it at the next level.
Mija Bendziute Mija Bendziute 6'3" | RS Boca Raton Community | 2025 State #55 Nation FL – RS @ Tribe (#8)
Future teammate of Hazel is Mija, a dynamic opposite hitter across from Charlotte on their Tribe club team. She’s a menace to deal with on the net whether it’s on defense or on offense. Defensively she puts up such a big block in front of her opposing hitters that she gives little to no space to work around her. Not only is she an explosive jumper, but does a great job watching the hitter to take away the swing that the outside wants to take. She’s willing and able to make adjustments in the air with her arms to take away the space, then uses her hands to funnel the ball down or back into the court. Offensively is where she can be an absolute cheat code for her club and future college team. She uses all of her height and athleticism, just like Kelly, to hit over and around the block with relative ease. She has the range with her arm swing to turn the ball both to the angle and the line no matter where the set is. It’s impressive to watch her play all 6 rotations and be such an asset for their offense, as most club teams won’t utilize the backrow attack as much. Defensively in the backrow she does a good job of getting her body behind and even under the ball to at minimum get the ball up, but has the control and technique to push that ball on the net in the middle of the court for Charlotte to work with.
These five prospects are so enticing to watch. The overall game that each of them bring to their respective teams is why they are so high on my list. The ability for each of these players to not only display their own skill and knowledge of the game but to be able to translate that into winning for their teams is just as impressive. All five of these athletes have the ability to play at a high level in college and I can’t wait to see the impact they are going to make on those programs.
