At the Southeast of Saline Invitational, I scouted Hillsboro's three-set loss to Smoky Valley.

It was the first time in three years that I have watched Hillsboro play and I was impressed by the overall athleticism of the club.

Here is a look at five prospects from Hillsboro.

[player_tooltip player_id='119710' first='Zaylee' last='Werth'], 6'0”, MH/OH, ‘24

Werth was a freshman on that 2020 squad and I remember she was a solid player back then. Over that time her game as become more refined and she is more physical. Werth's stat sheet against Smoky Valley included eight kills, six digs, and seven serve receptions. She has gotten offers to play college basketball but is looking for her first volleyball offer.

[player_tooltip player_id='342345' first='Savannah' last='Shahan'], 5'0”, OH, ‘24

Shahan is a physical specimen. She has hydraulic jacks for legs and broad shoulders. Shahan is quick and can jump. She was all over the court for the Trojans against the Vikings. She collected 11 serve receptions, seven digs, six kills, two blocks, and two aces. She would be a solid addition to an NAIA program.

[player_tooltip player_id='731088' first='Lauryn' last='Vogt'], 5'9”,MH/OH, ‘26

Vogt is a very similar player to Shahan, but not quite as quick. She is just a sophomore so she has time to figure out what position gives her the best option to play college ball. Vogt finished with seven digs, five kills, two aces, and one block. She is a name to put in your memory bank if you are a college volleyball coach in Kansas.

The cupboard is stocked at Hillsboro as the Trojans have two other sophomores who posted solid numbers against Smoky Valley. [player_tooltip player_id='489349' first='Kingzley' last='Ratzlaff'] had for kills and four digs, while Addison Jost added four kills and two blocks.
