Here are some Mustang standouts from the day followed by action photos:
Addison Wright
Addison Wright
Wright is one of the better all-around players in the Mississippi Valley Conference. She’s an explosive athlete with a powerful swing on the outside. The junior defends the net and stands out in the back row. She moves well laterally, has quick reflexes and understands the game at a high level.
Alyssa Jaeger
Alyssa Jaeger
Jaeger shines as a well-rounded player that helps her team all around the court. She swings it well from the outside, getting up in the air and showing impressive hang time. She’s a good defender at the net and holds up well in the back row. Coming into this event, she ranked third on the team in kills and digs, and fourth in blocks.
Luci Weber
Luci Weber
Like Wright and Jaeger, Weber is a strong all-around performer. She shares the team’s setting duties, where she shows a good feel for the position. She puts the ball where her hitters like it and is an obstacle for opponents at the net. She leads the team in assists and ranks fourth in digs.
Elizabeth Phillips
Elizabeth Phillips
The other half of Hempstead’s 1-2 setting punch, Phillips had handed out 153 assists this season coming into this tournament. She does a nice job mixing up her sets and displays a good feel for back setting. She does a solid job digging as well.
Emma Boge
Emma Boge
Boge represents a strong presence in the middle of the net for the Mustangs. She leads the team in blocks and also alters a lot of shots she doesn’t touch, saving her back row from too many direct hits. She’s agile, jumps well and shows off a powerful swing.
