The lone holdout from last year’s Class 2 state champions had a huge match in her team’s loss to Arcadia Valley. In the 1-3 defeat the 5’6” outside finished with nine kills and 24 digs. Used mostly as a defender the last couple of years she’s making the most of her chance at hitting and doing a great job as she’s second on the team in kills and first in digs.
Sara Ausbury – 2024 – Libero – Francis Howell North
In the 5-set loss to Liberty Sara did as much as she could to give her team the win with a career-high 24 digs. A hard-working defender who keeps the ball off the floor to allow her big bomber in the middle the opportunity to score.
Camryn Markenson – 2024 – Outside – Clayton
In the loss to Burroughs 1-3 Camryn had a nice hitting performance finishing with 8 kills but it’s her defense that stands out. A libero by trade finished with a team-high 34 digs even though she has been called on to hit the last two matches.
Claire Merseal Claire Merseal 5'3" | DS/L St. Clair | 2024 State MO – 2024 – Libero – St. Clair
Without looking into the records for both teams I would say it’s been a couple of decades since St. Clair has knocked off Hermann. In the win over Hermann, she would finish with 50 digs and then turn around and had 54 in the 5-set loss to Union.
Kennedie Witthaus Kennedie Witthaus 5'3" | DS/L Hermann | 2025 State MO – 2025 – Libero – Hermann
Her counterpart got the better of Kennedie in the loss to St. Clair, but Witthaus did her job recording a team-high and career-high 27 digs. Witthaus comes from a long line of solid liberos from the Class 2 powerhouse.
