As we are now in full swing of the year, many sophomores and proving to be reliable finishers for their program.
Here’s the top 10 kill leaders from the Class of 2026 thus far in the season.

Kayla Nwabueze Kayla Nwabueze 6'2" | MB Bloomfield Hills | 2026 State MI , Bloomfield Hills
The top-ranked player in the Class of 2026, Nwabueze does it all for the Black Hawks, but her powerful arm is arguably her best asset. She’s got 295 kills on the season through 70 sets of play, hitting .316. Nwabueze has hit another gear as of late, hitting over .400 in four straight matches, including a 20-kill effort against Adams last week.
Gabby DiVita Gabby DiVita 6'1" | OH Grosse Pt. South | 2026 State MI , Grosse Pointe South
DiVita has been one of the top hitters in this class nationally and she’s been living up to the hype throughout 2023. GP South has taken on the best teams in the state and she’s been going toe-to-toe with all the top hitters. The Blue Devils are rolling right now with DiVita leading the way. She’s at 280 kills through 53 sets, averaging over 5 kills per set. All while hitting .424 on the season.
Liv Hosford Liv Hosford 5'11" | OH Rockford | 2026 State MI , Rockford
Hosford was one of the top freshman hitters in 2022 and she’s taking her play up another level this season for the Rams. Hosford has 256 kills on the season through 66 sets. In her last two matches, Hosford has produced a combined 41 kills. Hosford is up against the best teams in the Grand Rapids area with every match. She’s getting better and better with each match.
Aubree Deshetsky Aubree Deshetsky 5'9" | OH North Branch | 2026 State MI , North Branch
Deshetsky was a big piece in leading North Branch to the D2 title in 2022. As a sophomore, she’s part of a deep and experienced offense, but her production has still increased. She’s got 241 kills on the year, hitting nearly .300 for the season. Deshetsky is the definition of consistency. Her swing and production rate never waiver match-to-match.
Skyye Frailey Skyye Frailey 5'10" | OH Athens, Troy Michigan | 2026 State MI , Troy Athens
Frailey has been one of the breakout sophomore hitters in the 2023 season thus far. She’s taken on a big role for the Red Hawks, racking up 215 kills over 57 sets thus far. Last week was arguably her top performance yet. She was one of the weekly leaders, putting down 38 kills over seven sets of play, picking up two conference wins for Athens.
Karis Chatfield Karis Chatfield 5'11" | OH Jenison | 2026 State MI , Jenison
Jenison looks like it could be a D1 contender this year and Chatfield is part of the powerful Wildcat offense. Chatfield has 206 kills through 59 sets. Chatfield has really stepped up in the most pressure-filled matchups as well. She recorded 20 digs in a five-set win over Grandville and 21 kills in a five-set win over Rockford.
Abigail Hoag, Eaton Rapids
Eaton Rapids is competing to be one of the stronger teams in the Lansing area and Hoag has been a real bright spot for the team. She’s got 143 kills on the season, but also has been finding another level as of late. She matched a season-high with 13 kills in a win over Olivet last week. She followed that up with nine kills in a win over Portland this week.
Jaelyn Laird, Ludington
Ludington has quickly been compiling wins and Laird has been the key offensive piece in the middle for the Orioles. She’s got 135 kills on the season and keeps improving on her finishing rate. Laird has been a great compliment for Ludington, coming through with timely kills in close matches.
Addison Dunning Addison Dunning 5'7" | OH Davison | 2026 State MI , Davison
Dunning has really been coming on as of late and has quickly climbed up the sophomore kill list. She’s at 133 on the season, but recently recorded 17 kills against Grand Blanc, 14 against Bay City Western and 14 against Bay City Central. All three of which, were wins. Dunning is playing with a lot of confidence and likely to keep racking up the kills in large fashion.
Jillian Ferrill Jillian Ferrill 6'1" | OH Lake Fenton | 2026 State MI , Lake Fenton
Ferrill is a talented all-around player for Lake Fenton that can play multiple positions. Her athleticism and length (6’1”) make her a valuable asset to Lake Fenton. As of late, Ferrill has also been hitting another gear with her offensive production. She’s up to 132 kills on the season, but has recorded double-digit kills in her last two matches.
