Making it as a DS at Yorktown is tough. Being named the Libero is even harder, but this is a job Addi’s taken on for the 2nd year now as she continues to put on a show every time they play. As a long time Munciana player, she embodies all the ball control and defensive skills you’d expect to see from their players and more. So far this season she’s proven to be a headache for opposing servers as you’ll see her take up to half the court at times and still have no issue turning opposing serves into great offensive opportunity.
Avery is a player who showed up on my radar a few years ago as a great DS with elite upside. Looking at her today, she’s cemented herself as one of the best Liberos in the state. Avery is the complete player. Aside from her staggering defense and serve receive ability, she brings unrivaled confidence and leadership to the back row of every team she’s apart of. For those of you waiting for the next big commitment to a power 5 school from this class, I would set your eyes here.
After finishing her Freshman and Sophomore campaign top 10 in the state in digs, it’s no surprise that she’s now leading the state in digs as a Junior. Coming off a club season with Circle City 16-1s, you can tell that the high school game comes easy to her. There’s not many Liberos who you’ll see read hitters as effortlessly as she does. Her elite footwork and mentality to always get to the ball will continue to create tough matchups for opposing attackers as this season continues.
Highlights
When you think of making a Boom late, Bella takes the cake for this class. After making a tough decision to leave Team Indiana after being Libero for the 15-1s and play for the 16-2s at Circle City, I believe she undeservingly fell off some peoples radars. Coming off an electric club season, leading her team and standing out tournament after tournament. She made it impossible not to take her for the 17-1s this year. You won’t find many players in this class with a better platform and serve than Bella. I expect to see her emerge as a big part of her new team and earn much deserved recognition.
It’s not often we see a DS of her size at the high school level, but she plays her role perfectly. After a great season playing middle back for Circle City’s 16-1s you can understand why they need her. Eva uses her elite feel for the game to cover any holes in the block, along with her longer reach to help her cover corners. When you think of the best back row players left in the class of ’25, Eva deserves to be on that list due to her definite Division 1 potential.
