While we go through and showcase all of those who have committed throughout the summer. What about the players STILL on the market?
While the 2024 class dwindles more and more by the day, there are still some dandies that you do NOT want to miss out in this class. As for the 2025s, this class is STACKED from top to bottom with talent. While nearly the entire top ten has been scooped up by big programs, there are some big time names and underrated talents that can’t be overlooked.
Let’s take a look at some of the top uncommitted kids in Michigan (As of Sep. 20)
5’11 OH – Forest Hills Central/FaR Out (2024)
Avery Weslow Avery Weslow 5'11" | OH Forest Hills Central | 2024 State MI is having an outstanding tail-end of her prep career! Starting last fall, the 2023 Miss Volleyball nominee stunned with Forest Hills Central posting over 500 kills and 400 digs. She went on to play with FaR Out 18 Black. A team mixed of the top seniors and juniors in the club, the squad would go on to win a national championship at Emperor’s Cup in April. From there, the remainder of the squad that consisted of juniors and sophomores, went on to play in the 17 Open at AAU Nationals, placing 5th overall. Fast forward to this fall, while FHC is having a rare off year, Weslow still remains a shining star, averaging almost five kills per set and with over 150 digs so far.
Jaelyn Hall Jaelyn Hall 6'1" | RS Bedford | 2024 State MI
6’1 OPP – Bedford/Premier (2024)
This is another player who got the call up to 18s this past club season. Playing with Premier Volleyball in Toledo, Jaelyn Hall Jaelyn Hall 6'1" | RS Bedford | 2024 State MI saw a huge growth curve in her play this winter. Going on to win a national championship in 18 Premier, Hall has taken this experience and become a crucial cog in the success of Temperance Bedford this fall. The mighty lefty not only acts as an imposing attacker, but she brings the house down with her blocking prowess as well. She’s a untapped force on the right pin, given her athleticism but still raw nature. Any program to pick her up would have something dangerous on their hands the next four years.
Jordyn Hughes Jordyn Hughes 6'0" | MB Portage North | 2025 State MI
6’0 MB – Portage Northern/Dead Frog (2025)
Speaking of raw, athletic and dominating, we have one of the most promising middles in the 2025 class with Jordyn Hughes Jordyn Hughes 6'0" | MB Portage North | 2025 State MI . Don’t let her size fool you, Hughes has hops for days and the speed to beat out the best defenders and attackers. She’s an explosive attacker that runs a near zero tempo ball with ease. She’s comfortable in front AND behind the setter. As well, Hughes is an impeccable blocker. Her lateral speed and read for the offense is hard to keep up with. Hughes has been having herself a year. After leading Dead Frog to a Top 5 finish at AAU Nationals, she currently leads #11 Portage Northern to a 20-7 so far on the season.
Grace Cooney Grace Cooney 6'0" | MB Hartland | 2025 State MI
6’1 MB – Hartland/L2 (2025)
This player is having a real standout 2023 fall. From last fall to now, Grace Cooney Grace Cooney 6'0" | MB Hartland | 2025 State MI has already amassed her season total in kills from her sophomore season and is hitting nearly .100 better. Cooney has been a standout from the L2 cannon, making serious impressions at Prep Dig events since last fall. The growth potential in this middle is crazy and unknown to where it will end. Cooney has become a critical piece in the Hartland resurgence this season.
Abby Pickard Abby Pickard 5'10" | S Lakewood | 2025 State MI
6’0 S – Lakewood/FaR Out (2025)
Alongside Weslow, Abby Pickard Abby Pickard 5'10" | S Lakewood | 2025 State MI was one of two sophomores to join the highly successful 18 and 17 Black squads this last club season. Pickard saw her time split with Corrie Wisser during time with 18 Black and then took on the reigns full time with 17 Black. Pickard has seen her game grow leaps and bounds from last fall. With all this championship experience under her belt, Pickard has been leading Lakewood Odessa to a #3 ranking this season and a really promising post season run in a few weeks. Pickard comes from a long line of successful players from the Lakewood/FaR Out pipeline that is surely ready for success at the next level.
