It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had a commitment radar report for the kids out of Michigan.
The 2023s are off and well into their rookie seasons with their collegiate programs. Meanwhile, this summer saw the 2024s begin to dwindle in size of what was left of the uncommitted. For the 2025s, the floodgates have opened! Some of the top names in the junior class have been scooped up by some big time programs. I am sure there will be more major announcements from that class within the remainder of high school season.
Without further ado, let’s catch you up on all the big commitments coming out of Michigan since we last updated!
Be sure to click on the links to see the official announcements below
Hailey Green Hailey Green 5'1" | DS/L North Branch | 2024 State MI to Wingate
5’1 L – North Branch/Michigan Elite
This is one of the most hotly anticipated announcements in the 2024 class. From one Division 2 powerhouse to the next, Hailey Green Hailey Green 5'1" | DS/L North Branch | 2024 State MI will be joining the 2022 DII National Semifinalists, Wingate next fall. This news comes in clutch for not only Green, but the Bulldogs. Wingate will be graduating graduate student libero Maggie Mullen at the conclusion of this semester. This opens up a pretty big door for Green to step in and make immediate impact. So far, Green is 26-1 with North Branch, Wingate is 9-1 on the 2023 season.
Catherine Flaharty Catherine Flaharty 6'2" | OH Saline | 2024 State MI to Xavier
6’2 OH/OPP – Saline/L2
Another big time announcement from the 2024 class, the Big East is getting even bigger. With the announcement of this 6’2 power pin, Xavier has racked up quite the impressive incoming class. Catherine Flaharty Catherine Flaharty 6'2" | OH Saline | 2024 State MI joins a quad that includes the likes of MB McKinley Boehm, OH Ava Tilden Ava Tilden 6'1" | OH Notre Dame Academy | 2025 State #141 Nation KY and L Julia Grace! Xavier is coming off of a promising 21-12 season in 2022 with a hot 7-4 start in 2023 with a stout non-conference schedule. Flaharty is beginning to catch fire as of late, going for 55 kills in her last 7 matches.
Navea Gauthier Navea Gauthier 6'1" | OH Shelby | 2025 State #56 Nation MI to Ohio State
6’2 OH – Shelby/FaR Out
One of the top recruits in the 2025 class, Navea Gauthier Navea Gauthier 6'1" | OH Shelby | 2025 State #56 Nation MI had everyone’s attention coming into June 15th. There’s quite some rumbling going into the summer that Gauthier was seriously Big Ten bound. Sure enough, Gauthier joins one of the hottest programs, not only in the Big Ten, but in the country with Ohio State! After finishing 22-10 in one of the toughest schedules in the nation, Ohio State finished out the 2022 season in the Elite 8 against the future National Champions. Gauthier is currently one of the most lethal scorers in all of Michigan. In 2022, she notched nearly 1,000 kills in a singular season. She continues to put up these big numbers this season with well over 250 kills so far this season.
Olivia Grenadier Olivia Grenadier 6'1" | MB Country Day | 2025 State #91 Nation MI to Colorado
6’1 MB – Detroit Country Day/Legacy
This is another top prospect from the 2025 class that had a LOT of chatter surrounding her and her potential landing spots in college. A national championship and a top 5 national finish later, Olivia Grenadier Olivia Grenadier 6'1" | MB Country Day | 2025 State #91 Nation MI will be heading to the mountains after all is said and done in Michigan. This commitment looks to continue the steady momentum that Colorado has seemingly been building the last few seasons. With a return to the NCAA tournament in 2022 with a 20-11 record, the Buffs have kicked off 2023 with an 8-3 start going into their last PAC12 season. Grenadier is one of the top middles in the country and plays with a lot of tenacity and agility. This fall however has seen Grenadier significantly sidelined due to injury.
Chloe Giehtbrock Chloe Giehtbrock 6'2" | S Marian | 2025 State MI to Arizona
6’1 S – Marian/L2
In her first year as a setter, it was tough to say just where Chloe Giehtbrock Chloe Giehtbrock 6'2" | S Marian | 2025 State MI could go. On a top 3 finishing team as an outside hitter her freshman year, Giehtbrock took a leap of faith to set full time and it has more than paid off. The newly formed Big XII has their hands ALL over this 2025 class in Michigan. Arizona will look to Giehtbrock to come and make immediate impact in their new era not only in the Big XII but under new head coach Charita Stubbs. Arizona will surely look to Giehtbrock early one in her career. This fall saw the new setter transfer to Marian where she’ll train, once again, under HC Mayssa Cook for the next two years. While Giehtbrock has to sit out this fall season, I am excited to see how she performs this club season and beyond with the Wildcats.
