The entire squad was energized, singing along to warm-up music, and the excitement continued with the national anthem. Westlake, with an impeccable Varsity record of 5-0, put on an impressive hitting display during the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity warm-up sessions. The best part about this setter's game is she sets the hard set with ease. Her back dump is a sure thing, and her low flat serve delivers aces. Alondra is set to play club with the Supernova 18-1. I asked Ashlyn after the match if the crowd cheering for her hypes up and she said tones out the crowd completely. She has a quick hustle on defense and stays dialed in on the play. She hustles on defense, maintains solid passing form, and tracks the game effectively. Lexi has excellent court communication, often calling all the balls as well as cheering on her teammates. I inquired as to her loud presence on the court wondering if it is an on-the-court persona or if she is always so talkative. She shared, “I am very loud, and I get it from my dad. Sam is always ready at the net, actively seeking the ball and delivering kills in the corners. Her solid jump serve adds to her versatility.
