Here’s how it works: I’ll pop up a random number generator that includes the 2024 rankings. I’ll generate eight numbers and the eight that come up will be the ranking of the player. I’ll then spotlight those players in the article to help give them some more attention.
There’s 88 players ranked in our Class of 2024. Let’s see who has the lucky numbers this month:
3. Mallory Bohl Mallory Bohl 6'3" | MB Saline | 2024 State #102 Nation MI , MB Saline/Legacy
The Notre Dame commit missed most of the 2022 prep season with a knee injury. This fall, Saline has been using her on the right side as well as in the middle. The 6’3” Bohl is very imposing at the net, with her long reach and athleticism. Having her back could help push Saline to getting back to Battle Creek this fall.
86. Riley Lockhart Riley Lockhart 5'10" | DS/L Country Day | 2024 State MI , DS/L Country Day/Legacy
Lockhart has been a staple of the Country Day program for years and her leadership and experience has been crucial to the Yellowjackets in 2023. This fall, Lockhart has 241 digs for DCD as the Yellowjackets are battling through injuries to remain a top D2 contender.
78. Arianna Black Arianna Black 6'0" | MB Whitehall | 2024 State MI , MH Whitehall/MVA
Black is a 6-foot middle for Whitehall, which has played a challenging 2023 schedule. Black has done her part to hold her own against these tough opponents. Black has 181 kills on the season, while adding in 35 blocks. She’s also shown her growth as a defender with 294 digs. Her improved all-around game is a credit to the work she has put in.
83. Braxcynn Baker Braxcynn Baker 5'11" | OH Lowell | 2024 State MI , OH Lowell
Baker has been a big reason why Lowell has been able to get back into the D1 picture in 2023. The Red Arrows have relied on her a lot on the outside and she’s come through with 254 kills, 266 digs, 26 blocks and 22 aces. Baker had a lot of explosiveness off the floor and plays with a lot of determination.
42. Alana Deshetsky Alana Deshetsky 5'8" | OH North Branch | 2024 State MI , OH North Branch/Legacy
One of the foundations of the North Branch program, the Ferris State commit continues to be a well-balanced player for the Broncos, as well as an on-court leader. She’s already got a career-high in kills this year with 348, putting her over 1,300 in her career. Deshetsky also has 258 digs and 70 aces this season.
51. Karlie Vogelheim Karlie Vogelheim 5'11" | MB Brighton | 2024 State MI , MH Brighton/L2
Brighton has been able to be a nice surprise in D1 this season and Vogelheim has been a big reason why. The 6’1” middle can also play on the right side, but her ability to finish at a high rate has been a nice asset for the Bulldogs. Vogelheim plays well above the net, which also makes her a tough block to get through.
66. Katie Harpenau Katie Harpenau 5'7" | OH Novi | 2024 State MI , OH Novi/Legacy
The Wildcats have been turned their play up another gear in recent weeks and still can be a challenger in the D1 picture. Harpenau has been leading the Wildcats in kills this year and also has elevated her game in recent weeks. She’s hit over .300 in three of her last five matches.
17. Avery Weslow Avery Weslow 5'11" | OH Forest Hills Central | 2024 State MI , OH Forest Hills Central/FaR Out
The Miss Volleyball finalist is doing all she can for the Rangers this fall. She’s put down 407 kills this season, averaging five per set to be among the state leaders. Weslow is approaching 1,300 career kills. This season, she also has 248 digs, 43 aces and 21 blocks.
