Sarah Shaw Sarah Shaw 6'2" | MB La Reina | 2025 CA , a 6’2″ Junior Middle Blocker from La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks, whose unwavering dedication and hard work have earned her a coveted spot at the prestigious Brown University. We had the privilege of asking Sarah to share her insights for the benefit of our readers.
Sarah Shaw Sarah Shaw 6’2″ | MB La Reina | 2025 CA was drawn to Brown because of the perfect blend of excellent academics and competitive athletics it offers. Known for her versatility, adaptability, and remarkable teamwork, it’s her powerful hitting that truly sets her apart. Sarah’s advice to aspiring athletes is to attend camps to get exposure and, more importantly, to get to know potential college coaches and their programs. Her commitment to Brown University reflects her dedication and hard work.

Madison Trondle
Madison Trondle is a 5’9″ Junior OH/OPPO/DS from Norco High School. Madison is a relentless and motivated player. She excels at hitting on both the right and left sides, especially when the block provides an open opportunity. Her delayed approach allows her to read the set longer, giving her a tactical advantage. Madison’s standout skill is blocking. She’s been actively working on her recruitment by attending college-hosted camps, sending emails to colleges, and keeping her profiles on NCSA and Instagram up-to-date. This young talent is set to play club at Empower this year.

Bailey Gonzalez is a 5’6″ Junior Setter from Notre Dame in San Jose, CA. Bailey’s remarkable defensive setting skills make her an indispensable asset to her team. She ensures her feet are set quickly under the ball. Bailey does not fall victim to watching the beauty of her sets instead she follows them up to ensure coverage for her hitters. She’s quick on the court and disciplined on defense, with an impressive serve. Bailey’s self-confidence and supportiveness are the keys to being a strong leader. She emphasizes the role of social media in connecting with fellow athletes and staying updated with the volleyball world. She’ll be showcasing her skills at Academy Volleyball Club.
Aleiah Carr Aleiah Carr 5’8″ | OH Taft Charter | 2025 CA , a 5’8″ Junior Opposite/OH from Taft Charter High in Woodland Hills, is a force to be reckoned with. Her standout skills are blocking and hitting. Aleiah’s firm block gives opponents second thoughts before swinging into her wall and her hitting choices are fine-tuned. She’s even made a transition from middle to Opposite and has handled the transition well. Aleiah is known for her vibrant personality on the court, but when it’s game time, she’s all business. In her own words, “I like to motivate my teammates to not let things on the court get in our heads. We have a job to do and when we’re done, we can reflect on any mistakes we made.” Aleiah’s play this season, earned her a spot on the 2023 West Valley All-League First Team. She’s gearing up for an exciting club season with San Gabriel Elite .

Mariana Alvarado-Rivera Mariana Alvarado-Rivera 6’0″ | MB Portola | 2025 CA is a 6’0″ Junior Middle from Portola High School in Irvine. Mariana’s standout volleyball skills are serving and hitting. Her float serve is a tricky weapon, often causing confusion among opponents. Kills are her forte, and as a middle, she approaches every offensive opportunity trying to secure a point for her team with her swing. Mariana is a versatile player, adjusting her role based on her team’s needs, whether it’s leadership or infusing energy. Mariana will be taking her talents to A4 Volley (17’1/Tyler) this club season.

Helen Beary Helen Beary 6’1″ | S JSerra | 2025 State CA , a 6’1″ Junior Setter/Oppo from JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, is an athletic powerhouse with a unique setting style. She excels in delivering unexpected sets to her hitters, making her a dynamic asset to any team. Helen is also adept at putting up a formidable block. She’ll be playing for Wave Volleyball Club but before club season begins, she will be attending the Top 250 PrepDig Expo to showcase her skills.

Melissa Jin
Melissa Jin is a 5’10” Junior Setter/Oppo from Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, CA. Melissa is a consistent player and a court leader. Her skills shine in serving, setting, hitting, and blocking. She shared, “I am focusing on being a more offensive setter and making smart choices to best direct the offense.” Melissa finished her regular high school season, strong with a 10-4 record. Her team earned 2nd place in Mission Valley Athletic League and will be advancing to NCS. In the club scene, she’ll be representing NorCal 17 Black.
