This resulted in tons of high-level competition taking place throughout the sectional weekend and sectional 10 was one of many to stand out. Here are the best players of the weekend from Sectional 10.
It’s no surprise that Villanova commit Taylor Lewis Taylor Lewis 6’1″ | OH Cathedral | 2024 State #179 Nation IN tops this list after leading Cathedral to yet another Regional appearance with her elite ability to put the ball away. Cathedral’s high powered offense is ran through Taylor, allowing her 40+ attacking opportunities in all important games. Using this to her advantage, Taylor knows exactly how to make her presence on the court felt at all times. She creates defensive nightmares for opposing teams as they’re not only dealing with the rest of Cathedrals elite front row but also Taylors highly efficient back-row attack.
Highlights
Leah’s the determined, no-nonsense leader that all coaches wish were leading their program. Her ability to impact and lead the game not only with her setting ability but as a Blocker and Defender is a testament to her athleticism and work ethic on the court. This weekend, she put her setting ability on full display, showing off the way she turns all passes into well placed sets and always makes her hitters job easy. Looking ahead, Leah is leading a competitive 18-1s at the Academy, where she’ll play her last club season before taking on the next level at Western Michigan.
Alaleh may be the most fun outside hitter to watch in the entire state. Helped by her explosive ability to jump out the gym, she showcases an elite range of shots and court awareness that makes slowing her down a struggle. Alaleh is another player who not only has the athleticism and ability, but also possesses the intangibles every coach is looking for with her electric energy. This club season, she’ll make one last go around with lifelong teammate Leah Richmond Leah Richmond 5’8″ | S Lawrence North | 2024 State IN as she competes for Academy before heading just down the road to Butler.
It’s no coincidence that Cathedral has one of the most powerful offenses in the state. Led by Kamryn, who’s finishing her 2nd season with Cathedral after making the switch from Sectional rival Lawrence North. Kamryn always finds ways to get the offense rolling, not only as a setter but as a hitting option off the 2nd contact. Getting the opportunity to watch Kamryn play, it’s clear of her history as a DS with the way she covers the floor and runs the defense when she’s back row. Kamryn continues to showcase she’s an elite all around player and Cathedrals in good hands with her playing her best volleyball right now. Going into her last club season, she’ll play with the Rev 18-1s before taking on the Next level at Lehigh.
Currently a player who’s doing all the right things to include herself in conversations with some of the best Libero’s in the state, Bella had an incredible weekend to end her junior year season, posting 21 digs and 40 receptions with no errors in 4 sets against cathedral. When watching Bella, you’ll notice that she’s not only one of the best players in her class within the lines, but also from behind it. Leading her team in Aces with 57 and still maintaining over 93% efficiency. Headed into club season, Bella will be competing with the 17-1s at Circle City.
Maddie Wilson
Maddie Wilson
Maddie embodies what every team is looking for in their Libero. She hustles, covers the floor well, and keeps plays alive that many couldn’t. North Central rallies heavily around her energy, and it’d be hard not to with the big plays she’s making. It’s easy to agree that she left it all on the floor in her last time playing for the Panthers. As for club season and post high school volleyball plans, I’m unsure what she’s doing. With that being said, If she still has any desire, Maddie deserves to be playing at the next level.
