Oklahoma High School Spotlight – Volume I – Mount St. Mary

High school season is among us, and many schools have already started making an impression. Within this series we will highlight the teams and players that are out there making their statement.

Mount St. Mary Rockets

The Rockets are showing out on top as they are the #1 ranking in the Oklahoma City area. As they sit at a 25-3 overall record, this team is full of confidence, energy, and pushes their limits as they continue to give their all in every game. As James Ward leads his girls through their 23-24 season, his roster is shining with some true athletes. Starting off with Junior Gia McGrew Gia McGrew 6'1" | MB Mt. St. Mary | 2025 State OK , she is a 6’0” Right Side that brings energy and power onto the court. She has good knowledge of the game and has a great approach to the ball while having a strong finish to her attacks. Another Junior we are keeping our eye on is MacKenzi Bass MacKenzi Bass 5'9" | DS/L Mount Saint Mary | 2025 State OK . Bass is a 5’9” DS/L that truly takes control of her back row. She brings a lot of hustles to her game with her quick transitions and accuracy. MacKenzi keeps dedicated support to her front row with her consistent movement and fast response to her covering. 5’11” Junior Georgia Ahlert Georgia Ahlert 6'0" | MB Mount St Mary | 2025 State OK is a wall on the Middle front as she does a fantastic job making herself available across the net. With her strong skill of reading the court, she connects great with her setter as she pushes her deep corner kills off her slides from the middle. Anna Spurlock is a sophomore to keep a look out for as she stays strong and aggressive across the net and puts up a big block. Keeping a strong game is Junior Setter Livia Ward Livia Ward 5'11" | S Mount. St. Mary | 2025 State OK . Livia feeds clean and precise sets to her hitters but also is not afraid to take a swing herself, she brings a big game to the court and does an excellent job at attacking when the other team least expects it. This team is one to watch this season as they are fighting till the end.
