While many look to upperclassmen to shine bright for their schools, sometimes the younger generation is ready to step up to the challenge. This series of articles will showcase those freshman volleyball players who are shouting “We Got Next!”. Let's meet a few of the players who are showing that they are ready for the big stage.

Allie Hudgins [2027] 6-3 Outside (HS: Westlake/Club: Austin Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Allie is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released her grad class yet. She should have no problem making the list once I update it in a few weeks. Miss Hudgins plays for Austin Westlake High School and also for the Austin Performance club program. They say everything is bigger in Texas and that goes for our volleyball players too. This wonderful left side attacker can seriously do it all on the court. Her offensive skill set is elite to say the least at such a young age. She already looks like a seasoned veteran from the left side. The length in her arms makes it very difficult for any blocker to time her attack. She can definitely bring the heat with the best of them as she unloads kill after kill. What I love about her is how her club team uses her in all three positions to vary their offense. Dealing with different locations and tempos would usually mess up a hitter's timing, but not Allie. She seems to thrive in any situation that she gets put in by her coaches. This is definitely a name to know so take special note of it.

[player_tooltip player_id='693903' first='Leann' last='Wise'] [2027] 6-0 Outside (HS: Stockdale/Club: 210 Beach/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Leann is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because I have not released them for her grad class yet. There is no doubt that she will make the list once I release it. She plays volleyball at Stockdale High School and also plays beach volleyball for 210 Beach. This multiple medal winner for Beach Nationals is no stranger to high-level volleyball. She brings all of her shot making abilities from sand volleyball to her indoor high school squad and boy can she score. She currently leads the entire state of Texas in kills amongst her freshman counterparts also on varsity. If any programs with beach volleyball want a stud to add to their roster, they should really look no further. Normally, young players need perfect sets in order to direct the ball where they want it to go, but Miss Wise is different. She uses her beach skills in order to make shots from all over the court. Leann doesn't need to take a full approach in order to score, instead she changes her hand contact point on the ball and awesome court vision to find the holes. She is a can't miss type of player and every coach needs to know her name.

Tinsley Welker [2027] 6-0 Setter (HS: Fort Bend Austin/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Tinsley is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released her grad class yet. She should have no problem making the list once I update it in a few weeks. Miss Welker is a solid setter for Fort Bend Austin High School and also plays club at Houston Skyline. Rarely do you see a setter like Tinsley be able to block pin to pin laterally and set her team from the front row. This is how FBA uses her on their varsity squad and it is paying off dividends for both parties. Tinsley uses her long and fast legs to patrol the net and then to turn and track the pass down. At this young age, she already has the prototypical size that all college programs want in a setter. Her height isn't a detriment to her back row defense also. She can dig hard driven balls in right back like a libero can. There is nothing that Miss Welker cannot do on the court. She also scores from setter dumps at an alarming rate. She is a player to watch for sure.
