South St. Paul junior outside hitter Alaina Panagiotopoulos Alaina Panagiotopoulos 6’0″ | OH South St. Paul | 2025 State MN impressed against Hastings in a 3-1 victory, 26-24, 14-25, 25-20, 25-16.
Panagiotopoulos delivered 23 kills, one service ace, two block assists, 14 digs, and 14 serve receptions. Overall this season, she has 306 kills, 58 service aces, 17 total blocks, and 196 digs in 62 sets played.
She’s well on pace to hit 600 career kills and 400 career digs this year in just her second varsity season. Panagiotopoulos has 574 career kills and 395 career digs thus far.
Against Hastings, she used her height and length plus her power to dominate the Raiders on the attack. Panagiotopoulos makes great use of her size and hits with excellent velocity from the outside and the middle.
Burnsville junior Mesaiya Bettis Mesaiya Bettis 6’0″ | OH Burnsville | 2025 State #28 Nation MN stepped up for the Blaze in a 3-2 loss to Lakeville South , 20-25, 25-23, 11-25, 25-22, 8-15.
Bettis led the Blaze with 19 kills, and she posted a service ace, three total blocks, nine digs, and 18 serve receptions. Overall this season, Blaze outside hitter has 257 kills, 13 service aces, 21 total blocks, and 154 digs.
She’s approaching 1,000 career kills and 400 career digs. Bettis has 969 kills and 382 digs in her career thus far.
On the attack, Bettis uses her length well to place the ball in difficult spots for the opposing team. She also jumps well with her 106-inch block jump.

Mounds Park Academy’s Else Kunze-Hoeg Else Kunze-Hoeg 6’0″ | S Mounds Park Academy | 2024 State MN helped her team sweep St. Paul Academy 3-0 by scores of 25-22, 25-13, 25-10.
Kunze-Hoeg was efficient on the attack at 66.7% with four kills. She also posted 25 set assists, six service aces, four digs, and two total blocks.
Overall this year, the 6-foot-0 setter has 113 kills, 86 service aces, and 199 blocks. Kunze-Hoeg has also been effective all season on set assists with 455.
She has excellent awareness on getting the ball to her teammates on digs, and Kunze-Hoeg is willing to play scrappy and dive for the ball. On the attack, Kunze-Hoeg is excellent at hitting the ball at tough angles to keep an opponent off balance.
Highlights
Lakeville South middle hitter Pagie Wagner delivered 15 kills against Burnsville.
Wagner showed her ability to hit from all kinds of angles and use good velocity on kill attempts against the Blaze. At 6-foot-3, Wagner uses her height effectively, and she moves well.
She also has an excellent jump, which only adds to her threat as an attacker. Wagner hits well from both the middle and the outside.

Kyla Ahlstrom Kyla Ahlstrom 5’8″ | OH Prior Lake | 2024 State MN hit nine kills for Prior Lake against Apple Valley.
A 5-foot-9 defensive specialist, Ahlstrom moves well around the court, and she’s ready to make a play. She delivers her kills with strong velocity, which makes it tough for opponents to stop.
Against Apple Valley, Ahlstrom excelled at hitting the ball into tough spots for the Eagles to respond. She showed her ability to put up points from the middle and the outside.
Lakeville South ‘s Olivia Wagner Olivia Wagner 6’0″ | S Lakeville South | 2025 State MN collected four digs in a win over Burnsville.
While her dig stats didn’t jump off the page, she made digs at key moments and showed what she can do on defense. She helped the Cougars come back from an early 4-2 hole in the fourth set with one of her digs, and Wagner helped the Cougars stay ahead, 16-13, later in the final set.
Wagner has an uncanny ability to find her teammates on digs, and not always the most likely one. She’s quick to the ball and can stop kill attempts well with her length and flexibility.
