Well, today I am taking one more look at the talent in the Kansas Class of 2024. I have featured heavy hitters, deep diggers, and pacesetters in that class among the talent in the state that I, unfortunately, did not get to see play in person in 2023. I will wrap up looking at that class for a while with a report on nine prospects who had solid senior seasons for their respective teams in at least one statistical category if not more.
Grace Rowland Grace Rowland 5'8" | OH Andale | 2024 State KS , 5’8, OH, Andale, ‘24
Rowland finished with 373 kills during her senior season for Andale. She can play six rotations as evidenced by her totals of 532 serve receptions and 196 kills in 101 sets played during her senior campaign.
Chloe Tyrell, 5’10”, OH, Olathe East, ‘24
I did not see the Eagles play in 2023, however, Tyrell has impressive highlights on HUDL. She racked up 372 kills in 90 sets played for Olathe East. Her stat line is filled to the rim with 482 serve receptions, 248 digs, and 32 total blocks. She plays club ball with KC Power .
Elizabeth Wells Elizabeth Wells 5'10" | MB Riverton | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, MH/OPP, Riverton, ‘24
The Rams had a solid season and were in attendance at an early season event I scouted at Wichita Trinity. However, they played in a different pool and gym than the one I watched. Wells had a solid season Riverton recording 363 kills, 72 total blocks, and 52 aces.
Callie Lane, 5’1”, S, Osage City, ‘24
Lane is extremely athletic and a solid team player. She can play multiple positions on the volleyball court and also is a talented basketball and softball player. Lane has 670 assists in 2023. She also registered 250 digs in 82 sets played for the Indians.
Kathleen Ellwood, 5’4”, S/DS, Little River, ‘24
Ellwood is a proven winner with back-to-back state championships under her belt. She collected 592 assists and 211 digs in a deep Little River roster. She also is a guard on the basketball team for the Redskins.
Emily Hynes, 5’6”, S, Wichita Northwest, ‘24
Hynes is a sneaky good setter for the Grizzlies. She finished her senior season with 585 assists in 74 sets played. She also has a very accurate serve that is difficult to dig as evidenced by her total of 57 aces during the 2023 season.
Jordyn Beckman, 5’4”, L/S, Wheatland-Grinnell, ‘24
Beckman is a solid defensive player out west. In 2023 for the Thunderhawks she collected 427 digs and 466 serve receptions. Her defense helped Wheatland-Grinnell qualify for the IA DII state tournament.
Kylee Johnston Kylee Johnston 5'3" | DS/L Oswego | 2024 State KS , 5’3”, L, Oswego, ‘24
Johnston is a six-rotation player who posted big numbers during her senior campaign. She racked up 418 digs, 417 serve receptions, 132 kills, and 70 aces in 83 sets played for Oswego.
