The 2023 Division 1 playoffs haven't disappointed.

We've seen upsets, we've seen excitement, and we've seen a lot of good volleyball.

Here's a look at eight players that shined as they led their respective teams to regional titles on Thursday night.

Sydney Bates, Jr. S Portage Northern

Portage Northern continued to show a lot of offensive balance in its regional final sweep of Mason on Thursday. Bates ran the Huskies' offense very smoothly, with a pair of hitters tallying double-digit kills and another had six. Bates herself also had four kills and just made great decisions throughout the night.

Sarah Curtis, Sr. OH L'Anse Creuse North

A five-set thriller with Utica Eisenhower required a lot of LCN players to step up, but Curtis was the one looking for the ball during key moments. Curtis put down 24 kills and was all over the floor in the match, leaving it all on the court.

Campbell Flynn, Jr. S Mercy

Flynn continued to play at the elite level we have grown to expect out of her. The Mercy offense looked effortless in the sweep of Allen Park. The balance was there, with four players recording six kills or more. That included Flynn herself, who put down six kills of her own while running the offense at setter.

Kiley Gallagher, Sr. L Clarkston

Gallagher is really the glue that holds the Clarkston team together. With a balanced offense, her defensive play and serving ability is really what makes the Wolves go. In Thursday's four-set win over Flushing, she served up five aces and then led the defense with 15 digs. She had 12 service points for the match as well.

Kendall Hopewell, Sr. MH FH Northern

Elana Erickson gets a lot of attention, and for very good reason, but Hopewell also deserves her flowers for where the Huskies are. In a four-set battle with Byron Center, Hopewell produced 17 kills and was very active with her defensive effort at the net. Erickson certainly is the primary hitter, but without Hopewell, the Huskies wouldn't be as complete a team.

Molly Reck, Jr. OH Northville

Reck continued her great postseason play by leading the Mustangs with a 20-kill performance in a four-set battle with Saline. The contest was as competitive and thrilling as we all expected, but Reck continued to show her poise and ability to step up in big situations.

Maria Odeesh, Jr. L Marian

An unsung hero for this year's Marian team, Odeesh has done a great job of holding the libero jersey. In Thursday's sweep of GP South, Odeesh never let South get rolling offensively, as she compiled 17 digs and got the ball to the setter so Marian could overpower their opponent.

Mallory Woiteshek, Fr. OH Grand Haven

There was no time like the present for Grand Haven to finally get past Rockford. The Bucs finally put the pieces together to get past the Rams and did so with a well-balanced effort offensively and defensively. Thursday was a breakout performance for the 6'3” freshman hitter. She led the Bucs with 19 kills and 16 digs to push them through to a regional championship.
