Continue ReadingOrange Lutheran Lancers Lions battled against JSerra in the Division II CIF Southern Section High School Girls Volleyball Finals! They played a great game hosted at Cerritos College in Cerritos California on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Coached by Henry Valiente and Cami Iwata, the Lady Lancers came in second place. The scores were 22-25, 23-25, and 17-25. This is their third CIF-SS finals appearance. Despite the loss, the Lancers will be going to regional playoffs. Their next game is at home on November 7th at 6 p.m. against San Marcos High School. They had a roster of 23 players for finals. Marley Robinson Marley Robinson 5’8″ | S Orange Lutheran | 2027 CA is a freshman on varsity and runs her offense with complete confidence. She is a setter who transitioned from a hitter so she knows the value of offensive and defensive skills. Robinson has some very nice sets with perfect placement. She is a setter who spreads the ball around in front row and pipe. She can get blocks at the net, she’s not afraid to get on the floor to save an attack. Her high volleyball IQ shows when she reads the court and scores on a setters dump. Marley is a young player doing great things on the varsity level and will continue to grow in the sport. She is a player to keep an eye on.
Westley Matavao
Westley Matavao
Westley Matavao has a powerful jump serve that can cause her opponents to get out of system or deliver an ace. She is a freshman who shows leadership on the varsity team. Matavao has a strong fast swing that when she connects with a perfect set, the force behind her hit is massive. Her crosscourt shot in front of the 10-foot line is fierce. She is an all around 6-rotation player that brings offense skills from her attacks and defensive skills by her digs and passes from back row. Although she’s a young player, Westley has brought mature skills to the varsity team and is a player to definitely watch.
Maylynn Mitchell Maylynn Mitchell 6’0″ | OH Orange Lutheran | 2025 State #137 Nation CA is a powerhouse at the net. Her hits can penetrate the block or tool it to score. She is a smart player who knows where to place the ball by reading the court. Her awareness on where to go, downline, cross-court, in the campfire, Mitchell makes it happen. She has the talent and skills to plays front and back row, passing at middle back, attacking and scoring at the pins.

Jazlynn Fu
Jazlynn Fu would put a stop to the ball, penetrating the net with her high hands. When covering the middle, she would slow the ball down with her touch. Making it easier for her teammates to recover the play. Fu’s blocks would go fast and straight down, making it hard for her opponents to keep in play. With a right position placed set, Fu was able to get on top of the ball and attack it with force.

Jaedyn Houston Jaedyn Houston 5’7″ | DS/L Orange Lutheran | 2025 CA is a hustler on the court. She had no fear of diving, digging, or sliding for a ball. She covered her hitters from the block. She would bump set the second ball if the setter couldn’t get to it. She was ready for attacks coming her way. Houston would better the ball by creating passes that were more effective for her setter.

Adisyn Tognazzini
Adisyn Tognazzini has a strong swing on the right side. She was ready, shuffling on the court, waiting for a ball to come her way. She received an assist off of a cross-court bump set to outside. She also blocked at the net or slowed the ball down with a touch. Tognazzini’s attacks the ball with a hard hit to score.
