Here are a few things you’ll see this week.
This is a subjective list.
As a reminder, this is not the be-all, end-all to these athletes’ recruitment. Some athletes get added to the list because they haven’t been seen by us as a group. Some get removed because they’re no longer playing volleyball OR they’ve committed full-time to another sport. Some athletes rise in the rankings because they went above and beyond to catch our eyes. Some dropped because there were others that were better. No matter what, this is an opinion, not fact.
Multiple adds!
There are 20+ new athletes to this updated rankings list. As stated above, we just didn’t know about some of these kids until recently. To be clear, since these rankings are updated quarterly (roughly), some of these new additions were seen earlier in the fall, and some were seen recently. Either way, getting added is a good thing.
Multiple articles!
We’ll have a full week of articles to produce this week, including the biggest risers, the top five available at each position, and the top five available overall.
These rankings are futures-based, not past- or present-based.
I realize that there will be folks emailing and texting me in all-caps with some vitriol behind it. For those folks, please take a number and step to the back of the line. We are attempting to predict what impact these kids will have at the next level, not this one. For example, there might be a First-Team All-State setter that set all of the records at their particular school. But that school happens to be in class 1A and the setter in question is 5’4″. Clearly, the college-playing future of this particular person might not be as high as, say, Macy Hinshaw Macy Hinshaw 5'9" | S Hamilton Southeastern | 2024 State #75 Nation IN (’24, 5-9 S, Santa Clara commit, two-time 4A state champ). Please keep that in mind when reading.
As always, have fun!
In short, this is about the kids, not us adults. This is a fun exercise for all of us here at PD, and it encourages competition and high-level play among the athletes. Have fun, and I’ll see you on the club courts soon!
