Camille Jacala | 5’5″ | 2024 | S | Absolute
The outside setting of Camille Jacala is equal parts legs and equal parts arms to push the set to the leftside antenna. When she is setting out of system, she delivers a ball that is off the net. Additionally, this location gives the hitter space. In the urgent situation of getting out of system play back in system, this space is important. Jacala covers her hitters well. Specifically, she appears alert and when needed and dives in on a blocked attack. She also seems to be the first person there ready for a low five to support a teammate after that teammate adds a point to the scoreboard.
Delaney Hughes | 5’8″ | 2024 | S | Seal Beach
Delaney Hughes has a strong, halfway between forehead and full extension contact point. The ball often goes to the antenna, however, when her contact is lower, the ball is a few feet inside the antenna. She gets her body to where the pass is going and then appears to simply let her body when making the set. When Hughes sets, location is the primary focus and her body reacts to what is needed. Specifically, she may fall away but still get the set to the middle of the court much like where she set when jumping straight up and down.

. Once her steps are made, she performs the set with a jump stop. Her body is then still body with the exception of her shoulders, elbows, and wrists. Whether she is setting a fast tempo playset or a higher, slower tempo playset, her contact point remains the same. She often leaves her outside sets in for a hitter to go get. As an ambitious setter, Groswirt is unafraid to set to any location regardless of how far she must run. Additionally, her cheering is, if not the most, one of the most enthusiastic of her teammates.
Trinity Silva | 5’11” | 2024 | S | Mid-Coast
The release of the ball when Trinity Silva is likened to that of a bounce pass in basketball. Specifically, she holds on long enough to get it to go somewhere but does not hold on too long that is disrupts the location. On occasion, typically a pass close to the net, Silva will take many small adjustments before the pass arrives. Specifically, there is a pursuit of perfection in her game. When she moves, one foot moves with the other, usually one following slightly after the other. However, they move together.
Angelina Sun | 5’9″ | 2024 | S | Ignite
When Angelina Sun is setting, her contact point is near full extension of her arms. Before she contacts the ball, she spin sets on sets to the outside and squares her body up to antenna on sets to the rightside. And after she contacts the ball, her hand drops quickly and she intently readies for what will happen next. When needed, she plays tall at the net. Specifically, she asserts her position and makes a blocker or attack be considerate of her presence there. Additionally, Sun drops in a tip quickly with a two handed set inside the 10 foot line.
