The latest rankings update is up and LIVE!
This has been a huge year for the class of 2025. After major club seasons, the floodgates have opened for recruiting to begin. With 21 of our top 30 ranked players committed, this has been a pretty crazy few months. On top of that, this junior class showed out during the high school season.
With all of the excitement from 2023 coming to a close, let’s take a look at the top 5 setters in the rankings.
No. 1 Campbell Flynn Campbell Flynn 6'2" | S Mercy | 2025 State #4 Nation MI – Mercy/Legacy (Nebraska)
There’s simply not enough good things that you could say about Campbell Flynn Campbell Flynn 6'2" | S Mercy | 2025 State #4 Nation MI . She’s the top ranked prospect in the 2025 class in Michigan and one of the top ranked nationally for SEVERAL reasons. Just in these last 6 months, she really showcased that. After leading her club team to a Top 5 finish at AAU Nationals to begin the summer, she ended the summer with a gold medal from the U19 World Championships and a fifth place finish at the U21 World Championships. And to think she was just going to follow this up with an unprecedented state title a mere few months later.
Flynn announced her commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers as one of the first 2025 commits in June.
No. 6 Ella Craggs Ella Craggs 5'9" | S Northville | 2025 State #127 Nation MI – Northville/Michigan Elite (Illinois State)
2023 was a really, really good year for this setter. After an incredible ending to her sophomore season last fall, Ella Craggs Ella Craggs 5'9" | S Northville | 2025 State #127 Nation MI was running Michigan Elite all the way to a AAU National Championship Final and a top ten finish at USAV Nationals in club. Craggs was named to the AAU 16 Open All-America team. All of this momentum, just kept on coming in the fall with Northville. For the bulk of the season, Craggs and the Mustangs were ranked the top team in all of Michigan. They rode this wave all the way to their second consecutive Division I Final Four. Craggs was then honored with her first 1st Team All-State honors.
Just before the madness of high school season began, Craggs announced her verbal commitment to play for the Illinois State Red Birds.
No. 12 Chloe Giehtbrock Chloe Giehtbrock 6'2" | S Marian | 2025 State MI – Marian/L2 (Arizona)
This player made many leaps in the last year or so. In her first year playing entirely as a setter, Chloe Giehtbrock Chloe Giehtbrock 6'2" | S Marian | 2025 State MI wasted no time grabbing some serious attention. While not the craziest of years from a team perspective at L2, Giehtbrock remained a constant star on the court. And despite being absent from the court this fall due to transfer regulations sanctioned by the MHSAA, this is a player you want to keep a close eye on throughout the 2024 club season.
After such an incredible year, this setter caught the attention of some serious programs including former Pac-12, now Big 12 member, Arizona. Just a mere weeks after opening up the recruiting floodgates, Giehtbrock was committed to the Bears.
No. 14 Abby Pickard Abby Pickard 5'10" | S Lakewood | 2025 State MI – Lakewood/FaR Out (Uncommitted)
This 2025 class is pretty stacked in terms of talent and the success that they all bring. This year showed off what Abby Pickard Abby Pickard 5'10" | S Lakewood | 2025 State MI was made out of. After getting the call up to 18 Black with FaR Out last club season, Pickard ran all the way to a National Championship in 18 Open at Emperor’s Cup. After that, she went on to lead 17 Black to a top 5 finish at AAU Nationals a few months later. This fall she showed off her versatility with Lakewood. Traditionally a setter, Pickard was doing good work swinging on the pins.
Surprisingly, unlike her counterparts, Pickard has yet to get picked up by a program quite yet. This player would be a great addition to any roster.
No. 25 Kaylin Schroeder Kaylin Schroeder 5'6" | S Bedford | 2025 State MI – Bedford/L2 (Eastern Michigan)
This was quite the year for Kaylin Schroeder Kaylin Schroeder 5'6" | S Bedford | 2025 State MI . Not only did she do some big things with her club team at L2, but she was leading the charge at Bedford this fall. For L2, this club is brand new relative to their counterparts. This last summer, Schroeder and her 162 team became the first team ever to place top ten at nationals at L2. Much to the thanks of Schroeder’s play. After this, she was running one of the most effective offenses in all of Michigan Volleyball at Bedford. Schroeder had the Mules kicking at a .294 hitting efficiency on the entire season.
After such a huge season, Schroeder announced her commitment to Eastern Michigan University this fall. A program on the rise under new leadership, Schroeder could see herself in a substantial setting role or even transition to a defensive specialist.
