Volleyball is a true team sport in that it takes every single player to help a team compete. However, every team across all of the age groups has one or two players that are considered “Game Changers”. This moniker is given to those that literally change the dynamic of each team and give their squad a fighting chance to win. After watching all of these wonderful players during the two-hour event, these were the players that I witnessed to be considered a true Game Changer for the Houston I Expo:
Lexi Rosenblatt Lexi Rosenblatt 5'9" | S McCallum | 2026 TX [2026] 5-9 Setter (HS: McCallum/Club: Roots/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Lexi is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on our official watch list and made a huge case for herself to be ranked with her performance at the Expo. She plays for McCallum High School and also for the Roots volleyball club. Miss Rosenblatt stood out for a variety of reasons in the setting position. Her form and technique were top notch and she has a great frame for the position. I loved watching her footwork to the ball as she has a very quick first step, which allowed her to track the ball well. Her jump set was exceptional and it is a weapon when she is in the front row to keep the blockers at bay and not cheat toward a hitter. Another aspect that I loved about her play was her attitude on the court. She enjoys the competition and the game and it shows on her face. This can be quite infectious to her teammates as a leader and captain of a team. It is this reason why I have chosen to anoint her a “Game Changer” for this Expo. Please help us congratulate her on winning the award.
Julia Porath Julia Porath 6'1" Taylor | 2025 TX [2025] 6-1 Right Side (HS: Taylor/Club: Texas Tornados /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Julia is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but has turned some heads after what she showed at the Expo. She plays at Taylor High School and plays club for the Texas Tornados volleyball club. Miss Porath showed a lot of grit during her play and was dominant at times with her hard swinging left arm. By using her strong frame at the net defensively, she was extremely productive as a blocker. What I liked the most was how she moved her shot around and found multiple ways to score. Every team would love a solid left-handed point scorer to take some pressure off of the other hitters and spread the attack around. This is exactly who Julia is and I think she can show off those skills at the next level for sure. Her play during the Expo earned her the “Game Changer” award. If you haven’t seen her play, check her out this club season and you will not regret it. She is a diamond waiting to be found by a college coach.
Kaleigh Welch Kaleigh Welch 5'6" | DS/L Troy | 2025 TX [2025] 5-6 Libero (HS: Troy/Club: Waco Juniors/Verbal: Texas A&M Corpus Christi)
Kaleigh is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on the official watch list. She plays at Troy High School and also club for the Waco Juniors volleyball program. Miss Welch is a fun player to watch on the court. She has a relentless motor that does not quit along with amazing ball control skills that have to be seen to be believed. Recently she has made her college commitment and will play at Texas A&M Corpus Christi in a few years. While most defenders specialize in either serve receive or digging, Kaleigh is one of the few liberos who can do both at a very high level. Her platform was super solid in serve receive and she should be studied by younger players on how she was able to hold it firm after contact. This quiet platform allows the ball to rebound very nicely toward her target each time. Defensively, I loved watching her pursue the ball. She has no regard for her body as she puts it on the line time after time to keep the ball off of the ground. Every team could use a libero like her and this is why we have dubbed her a true “Game Changer” for this Expo.
