Continue ReadingBelow are the top prospects from the class of 2024 who I show have yet to commit. It is not certain why they have not committed. Perhaps they have chosen to focus on their education. Or perhaps I missed a commitment announcement. What I do know is these prospects have the talent to contribute to a college team, whether it is Division I, II or III.
Kiylah Presley Kiylah Presley 6'0" | OH Bishop McNamara | 2024 State #114 Nation VA (Bishop McNamara/ Paramount ) Ranking 5 – Last year Paramount listed her as committed to Virginia. This year they show her as not committed. She can dominate a game at the net even after moving from middle to outside. She still struggles a little bit in a six rotation setting. Sometimes Paramount used her in a two person serve receive. That created more responsibility while learning a new position since as a middle she was not used in serve receive. One thing you can’t take away from her is her athleticism. At 6’0″ with a 10’5″ approach jump she can impact a game.

Hannah Ball Hannah Ball 5'11" | OH Midlothian | 2024 State VA (Midlothian/River City) Rank 9 – No state championship this year for Midlothian. They lost in the first round to Riverbend in five sets. Last year Hannah led them to their first state championship culminating it with the match clinching kill. She stands 5’11” with an approach jump that falls on inch shy of 10 feet. A six rotation player who can be a difference maker in the front row. In the four years Hannah has played for the Trojans they had fewer losses than the year before she arrived.
Greta Barvick Greta Barvick 5'10" | S Chelsea Academy | 2024 State VA (Chelsea) Rank 10 – A couple years ago she set a 5/1 for Vienna Elite. Last year for Blue Ridge she set a 6/2, taking advantage of her powerful right side hitting capability. For her high school she played left side averaging just over 5 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .367. She brings incredible court sense to the game, always knowing where to find the open spot. The diversity in her game allows her to be used as a setter in a 5/1 or a right side hitter in a 6/2. Last year Blue Ridge won the Chesapeake qualifier and played in the National Division at the Junior Nationals. It is unclear whether Greta will be playing this year. She does not appear on the Blue Ridge roster for 2024.

Aubrey Hatch Aubrey Hatch 6'1" | OH Colgan | 2024 State VA (Colgan/ Paramount ) Rank 13 – At 6’1″ she brings height to the left side. Her outside hitting led the Sharks to one State championship and a second place finish. This past season she earned a spot on the first team All state and the Post All Met second team. College coaches can watch her compete in the Triple Crown this club season as Paramount will be the first Virginia team to compete at this event.
Mickhaila Murray Mickhaila Murray 5'11" | OH Flint Hill | 2024 State VA (Flint Hill/Metro) Rank 17 – She plays for a very talented Metro team that always carries some potent outside hitters such as Emerson Sellman Emerson Sellman 6'4" | OH Academy of Holy Cross | 2024 State #5 Nation VA , Macari Spears and Lameen Mambu Lameen Mambu 6'0" | OH Chantilly | 2025 State #64 Nation VA , all committed to Division I power five conferences. The Metro 18 roster is not yet up but the outsides for this year could be Alexis Ewing Alexis Ewing 6'3" | OH Bullis | 2025 State VA (Penn State) and Lameen Mambu Lameen Mambu 6'0" | OH Chantilly | 2025 State #64 Nation VA (Georgia Tech), leaving her again as a third option. Murray has started left side the last two years for Flint Hill and led them to two State championships. At a listed 5’11” she may lack the height to play Division I, but she hits the ball hard and really disguises her roll shots well. A very crafty hitter. Micky also plays a solid back row which allows her an opportunity as a defensive specialist who can also provide some offense with her back row attacks.
Samia Sayd Samia Sayd 5'11" | OH Marshall | 2024 State VA (Marshall/Virginia Elite) Rank 20 – Samia lists at 5’11” with an approach jump of 9’7″. One skill that separates her from the other players on the list is her excellent back row play. She passes well, plays solid defense and can crush the bic when given the back row set. Her beach play during the summer enhances her all around play for the indoor game. Samia can help a team a number of ways.
Paige Ahakuelo Paige Ahakuelo 5'8" | S James Wood | 2024 State VA (James Wood/ Paramount ) rank 26 – Love the way Paige moves to the ball. She is quick and athletic and makes setting look so easy. While she only lists at 5’8″ her athleticism provides her some good hops when playing the front row. She has set James Wood to two consecutive state championships which earned her first team all state for Class 4. Playing right side for James Wood she actually finished second in kills and fourth in blocks. She will also be playing in the Triple Crown with Paramount where you can watch a smorgasbord of uncommitted players in a loaded 18 lineup.

Adriana Perodin Adriana Perodin 5'9" | OH Riverside | 2024 State VA (Riverside/ Paramount ) rank 27 – A smaller outside at 5’9″ who plays down for the 17 team. She will also be competing in the Triple Crown. She played for Riverside and led them to an undefeated season until their loss to First Colonial in the championship game. Adriana brings no fear to the court swinging hard at every ball. She plays six rotations with the drive to hustle on every play.
Sydney Pham Sydney Pham 5'3" | DS/L Madison | 2024 State VA (Madison) Rank 29 – Sydney provides the steadiness to the Warhawks game. The calm before the storm. A solid libero who rarely makes a bad pass. She moves her feet well in the back row and always seems to be in front of the ball when the opposition makes a kill. She earned a spot as the top libero for the Concorde District. Madison made it to the semi-finals in the State championship and were the only team to beat state champion Langley, achieving that feat three times.
Seliz Aktuglu Seliz Aktuglu 5'9" | OH Oakton | 2024 State VA (Oakton) Rank 30 – At 5’9″ Seliz would be considered small for a left side at the Division I level. Physically she brings a lot of strength to the game hitting the ball with velocity. She can also play six rotations and brings one of the best serves to this group.
Highlights
Camille Pomeroy Camille Pomeroy 6'2" | MB Madison | 2024 State VA (Madison/ Paramount ) Rank 34 – Another player who will be bringing their skills to Paramount. At 6’2″ she brought a solid presence to the middle for Madison. She can also hit the quicks at various locations along the net. Camille seemed to really come around towards the end of the season so it will be interesting to see how she performs at the highest level at Triple Crown. She reaches 10 feet with her approach jump. Incredibly, she did not begin playing volleyball seriously until her frosh year in high school so it appears there is a lot more upside to her game.
Cassandra Bradley Cassandra Bradley 5'6" | DS/L Richard Montgomery | 2024 State VA (Richard Montgomery/MVSA) Rank 35 – Her libero play led Richard Montgomery to their first state championship. She earned a first team nod for Montgomery County and was just one of four liberos to be named to the Post All Met honorable mention team. A very under rated player who quietly gets the job done.
Highlights
Paula Sigurani Paula Sigurani 5'4" | DS/L Colgan | 2024 State VA (Colgan/ Paramount Rank 36 – Include Paula as one of the four liberos to make the Post All Met honorable mention. Her libero play also earned her a Class 6 first team All State nod, the third straight year she has won the award. Paramount has two solid back row players in Paula and Natalie Carlin Natalie Carlin 5'4" | DS/L Riverside | 2024 State VA , which should result in consistent in system attacks. Paula gave Colgan one state championship and another appearance in the finals in 2022. A proven winner on the court.
