Here is the second scouting report from the tournament in Wichita and a look at prospects from both Kansas Rise squads.
Kelley plays for the Rise’s 17-1 team. I scouted their first match of the day a two-set win over Emporia Volleyball 17-2. Kelley is a tall hitter, who has a huge reach. She finished with seven kills and five serve receptions in the win. She has great court instincts and communicates well with her teammates.
Rachel Peterson, 6’1”, MH, Andover (Online), ‘25
Peterson could evolve into a beast, but she needs to be more confident in her skills and start playing with a mean streak. She finished with a match-high eight kills against Emporia. She is probably best suited as a front-row-only prospect and could play for an NAIA program.
Hannah Tate Hannah Tate 5'9" | OH Newton | 2025 State KS , 5’9”, MH/OH, Newton, ‘25
Tate is a gifted athlete who can play six rotations. She filled up her stat line with six receptions, two digs, and three aces. She has an accurate serve that will play at the next level. Newton is a solid program that faces tough competition during the high school season which will also help her game evolve.
Rachael Langholz, 5’9”, OH, Mulvane, ‘27
Younger players are difficult to scout especially when they are playing up in club ball. Langholz is an impressive prospect on the Kansas Rise 15-1 squad, who did not appear to be intimidated by facing 17U club teams. The match that I watched her close was a two-set over Emporia in the team’s second match of the day. She finished with four kills. What I like about her is she plays under control and hits with confidence.
Emilee George, 5’8”, OH, Eisenhower, ‘27
After watching Eisenhower play basketball the night before, I had a chance to scout one of the school’s volleyball prospects. George has quality skills and can play a variety of positions. He jumping ability is what makes her stand out.
Caris Claussen, 5’7”, RS, Valley Center, ‘27
Claussen’s swing and passion for the game is what caught my eye. The Valley Center Hornet prospect can sting a ball. She had five total kills in the two matches I watched. Right now she is a complimentary player, but she has a lot of competitive volleyball ahead of her.
