Club season is just beginning and a 2024 prep season is in the distance.
This year should see plenty from the Class of 2025 take a big step in their development and name recognition.
Here’s eight players that could be breakout stars from the Class of 2025 throughout 2024.
Chloe Aalfs Chloe Aalfs 5'10" | OH Buchanan | 2025 State MI , OH Buchanan/Dunes
Aalfs was a big reason for Buchanan being a top program in D3 this past season and this upcoming club season should help her develop new aspects to her game. She’s a motivated player that has a well-rounded base. As she grows in her intensity and instincts, she could become one of the dominant players in D3 for 2024.
Jordyn Anderson Jordyn Anderson 6'3" | S Ludington | 2025 State MI , S Ludington
Anderson help spring Ludington to being a top squad in Division 2 this fall. She worked with a lot of talented hitters as the Orioles that had an offense that hit a great percentage. However, Anderson will be losing a lot of those hitters and the attention will turn to her. The 6’3” setter, who is also a basketball standout, has a very well-rounded game and can impact in all phases. I think Ludington will remain a top D2 program next fall as Anderson will be the straw stirring the drink and be able to develop new hitters quickly.
Sarah Bradley Sarah Bradley 6'0" | OH Everest Collegiate | 2025 State MI , OH Everest Collegiate/Unified
Bradley certainly broke out during the Division 4 finals, leading Everest Collegiate to the title. However, her performance should have put a lot of people on notice. Bradley had to gain a lot of confidence from her play at Kellogg Arena and I’m excited to see what it does for her this club season. Bradley should be able to feed off this momentum and come back next fall as the dominant player in D4, which could open more doors for her at the next level.
Aubree Calloway Aubree Calloway 5'9" | OH Bronson | 2025 State MI , OH/MH Bronson
Another player that has arguably already broken out, Calloway is a player that we would like to see get a chance to shine at Kellogg Arena. She’s been absolutely dominant at the net for Bronson over the last year and has found another gear for her play toward the end of 2023. She hit nearly .400 and had over 150 blocks. Those numbers may only get stronger next year and Bronson has a great chance to be a team that gets back to the state finals in Division 3.
Finley Helm Finley Helm 5'9" | OH Mt. Pleasant | 2025 State MI , OH Mt. Pleasant/Five:1
Helm was a six-rotation outside for the Oilers that competed against some of the top hitters in Central and Northern Michigan. With a club season to add to her all-around ability, I would expect Helm to position herself to be one of the top outsides in the Northern/Central area for 2024. Helm plays with a lot of intensity and determination and that is going to take her to another level throughout this year.
Mya Kattula Mya Kattula 5'11" | S Notre Dame Prep | 2025 State MI , S/RS Notre Dame Prep/Michigan Elite
Kattula has established herself as a great player in D2, but Notre Dame Prep has been somewhat overshadowed the last two years by the dominant play of North Branch and the rising Orchard Lake St. Mary’s program. Next year, D2 could be more open for the Irish to bounce back and Kattula will be the beneficiary of that opportunity. She’s a great on-court leader that can do it all and has a lot of big-match experience for NDP. She excels as a hitter and setter and 2024 could be the year everyone sees her full potential.
Addison Newblatt Addison Newblatt 5'9" | OH Clarkston | 2025 State MI , OH Clarkston/Michigan Elite
One could argue that this past fall was somewhat of a breakout for Newblatt (Fordham) but I think she may have just been scratching the surface. After dealing with injuries the last two years, Newblatt got better and better throughout the prep season and that had to build her confidence for this club season. Next fall, Clarkston is going to need Newblatt to take on an even bigger role and she should be able to answer that call.
Arynn Randle El Arynn Randle El 5'11" | OH Detroit Country Day | 2025 State MI , OH Country Day/Legacy
Country Day will be losing its primary arm on the outside, which opens the door for Randle El to see an increased role with the team in 2024. With Olivia Grenadier Olivia Grenadier 6'1" | MB Country Day | 2025 State #91 Nation MI hopefully being healthy for the Yellowjackets in 2024, the outsides for DCD will get a lot of chances to come through. Randle El has a lot of explosiveness and can really bring the heat at the net. A club season with Legacy should help add to her defensive play and make her a breakout talent for next fall.
