Here are some teams and players who definitely are turning heads due to their play. This series will highlight some players who we have seen in person and we are adding to our list to watch this season.
Arete 16 Navy Telos
This squad has some stellar players who turned my head a few times. It all started when I watch Jaiden Harris unload a bomb on the right side down the line out of serve receive. Not only was it a show-stopping laser but it hit the ground so hard that it should have been worth two points. I knew I must stay and watch this team a little more closely. Setter Kinley Nicholls Kinley Nicholls 5'9" | S Hebron | 2026 TX back set a gorgeous dime to her from the left side of the court. Just when everyone followed the path of the ball to the left side, she went against the flow of the pass and created an amazing one on one for Jaiden. Miss Harris has enormous power in her strong frame and we are going to add her to our watch list for this season. Libero Emily Dufresne played very well navigating the back row and passing some great balls in system for this offense. She was well balanced with her footwork before and during contact. Outside Sophia Davila Sophia Davila 6'0" | OH Woodrow Wilson / Dallas For Talented And Gifted | 2026 TX played all the way around and was a solid contributor in every facet of the game for this squad. She has a good frame and potential to be a threat at the net. Middle Emerson Jones Emerson Jones 6'0" | MB Frisco Wakeland | 2026 TX provided a solid option in the middle. Once she gets her timing a little closer to zero tempo (in the air before the setter contact the ball), she will be a big offensive weapon for this team. Brylee Moore is a great outside hitter that can provide a lot of scoring for this squad. She is tall and keeps her eyes focused on the ball well when it is on the opponent’s side. I will be watching this team very closely moving forward with what I saw from them at the Tour Stop 1.
Austin Juniors 17 Molten
This squad has some talent that should be added to some watch lists by a lot of scouts in the college game. Let’s start with someone we know very well. Outside hitter Zaniah Hoskins Zaniah Hoskins 5'10" | OH Johnson (Buda) | 2025 State TX is primed and ready to showcase her high-flying act to everyone. She is playing on another level and you can see the fire in her eyes. The offense definitely flows through her on this team and she is not afraid of the role. I watched her bring the thunder over and over from the left side. She is extremely athletic and can score from any location on the court. Libero Charlotte Voss was very active all over the court and touched a lot of volleyballs in some long rallies. She has just the right hard-nosed attitude to keep a team in every match as she does not stop fighting. Setter Jasmine Dion is smaller but don’t sleep on her because she can flat out dish the rock. Her small frame pushes the ball well to her outside attackers on the left pin. I love how precise she is with her mechanics and it is due to them that she is hitting the target every time with her sets. Middle Vibha Sheth ran a very fast tempo in front of her setter during routes out of serve receive. This will do very well for this team’s offense if she can keep that tempo up all season. Pin attacker Kael Wilcox is a big target for her setter to deliver to on the right side. She has tons of power in her swing. Outside hitter Layla Todd Layla Todd 5'8" | OH Lake Travis | 2025 TX used some awesome passes in the back row to keep this team in system also. She is a solid second option on the left.
