The first stop was held in Dallas, TX this weekend. I was able to attend this prestigious event and this next series will be about those players who stood out while I watched their matches in person. I spent most of my time watching the Invitational tournament, which was riddled with Open level talent. There were teams that traveled from Utah, Georgia, California, and Hawaii to compete with our Texas teams. Without further ado, let’s see who stood out on each team.
San Antonio Juniors 17 Adidas
The tournament got off to a wonderful start on Saturday and finished Sunday evening. It was meant to end on Monday but the freeze halted the event and no one was able to finish the tournament. Even with no true champion crowned, we were all still able to see some awesome volleyball. SA Juniors went 3-3 over the course of the tourney but played extremely tough against everyone. They are a special group who are coached very well and can give any team a run for their money. The following players are who stood out to me when I watched them play.
Isabella Andrews Isabella Andrews 5'11" | OH Samuel Clemens - Schertz TX | 2025 State TX [2025] 5-11 Outside (HS: Clemens/Club: San Antonio Juniors /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Isabella is currently ranked as the 97th best overall prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Clemens High School and also the amazing San Antonio Juniors volleyball club. When I watched their match, Miss Andrews was her usual hard-hitting scoring self. What I love about her game is how supportive she is of her teammates during the entire match no matter what is going on. I have always admired her game and thought she played more mature or older than she actually was. The level of maturity shows when the going gets a little tough during matches. She always has a look of get me the ball and I will take care of it. The awesome part about is that she has the ball control and power to take over whenever her team needs her to. In my opinion Miss Andrews is the type of player that a lot of colleges would love to have on their roster. She contacts the ball pretty high and uses amazing technique to power through the block. Her scoring happens at a feverish pace sometimes and she will always pad her stats.
Mya Allen Mya Allen 5'11" | OH Reagan | 2025 State #148 Nation TX [2025] 5-11 Outside (HS: Reagan/Club: San Antonio Juniors /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Allen is currently ranked as the 21st best overall prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Reagan High School and also for the San Antonio Juniors volleyball club. Anyone who is anyone in the sport knows about the amazing exploits of super high flying left side Mya Allen Mya Allen 5'11" | OH Reagan | 2025 State #148 Nation TX . When it comes to verticals, I would bet that she can jump with anyone in the country. As explosive as her lower body is, all spectators will marvel at her arm speed in her down swing. She is able to generate so much power in her attack that it can almost seem unfathomable at times. Miss Allen is a stud and will have her pick of whichever school she wants after all of her offers come in. If you are one of the schools that has not offered her yet, I would strongly suggest that you pick up the phone very soon. She will not last very long. This past weekend I watched her throttle the ball a few times from the front row, but what is even more amazing is how she is able to hit with so much power from the back row. Designed play sets with her coming out of the back row would be killer for this squad. Can’t wait to see her in action again soon.
Isabella De La Rosa Isabella De La Rosa 5'6" | S Harlan | 2025 State TX [2025] 5-5 Setter (HS: Harlan/Club: San Antonio Juniors /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Isabella is currently ranked as the 109th best overall prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. Miss De La Rosa plays at Harlan High School and also club for San Antonio Juniors . The super athletic junior setter has such a strong frame and uses it to her advantage all over the court. I love watching her be able to push the ball to the pins from every location, especially during out of system situations. Her power was creating some awesome one on one situations as the ball shot out toward both pins. One back set that I saw had my jaw on the ground with her beautifully it looked coming out of her hands and reaching the right side pin. The way she plays defense out of the back row is also special because of her strength. She uses her lower body very well to push off and create extra range to dig and touch balls that are well outside of her reach. I love how soft her hands are when delivering to her hitters. She is a special talent that should be given some looks by schools who want to push the pace of their offense in a few years.
While I only wrote about three players extensively, there were some others who also did very well when I watched. Stud libero Anna Arceneaux Anna Arceneaux 5'6" | DS/L Antonian College Preparatory | 2025 State TX was as solid as ever when I watched this team compete at the tourney. I love how she uses some amazing angles with her strong platform to deliver balls to her target. When I watch her play, I see a laser focus in her eyes that cannot be taught. Thalia Yancey Thalia Yancey 5'11" | OH Harlan | 2025 State TX stood out to me for her awesome explosiveness all over the court. She is the type of player who makes everything above the net look easy. Right side Zariah McFadden Zariah McFadden 6'0" | OH Madison | 2025 TX showcased some awesome skills to help this squad’s offense. She really helps spread the offense out by swinging very hard when her number is called. I noticed how high her motor was with her activity and will keep my eye on her moving forward.
