Triple Crown was, yet again, one for the books.
The talent on display and the epic match-ups throughout the convention center did not disappoint.
Still reeling from all of the fun, let’s take a look at some of the biggest performers from the tournament. Who were the fab five setters in the 18s division this year?
Ruby Ennis – COAST
Running the offense to the 18 Elite winning team is nothing to scoff over. Looking to get swept in the title game, Ruby Ennis showed the gamer in her and took over. From there on, it was all Coast to take the division title. Ennis was having herself a great weekend with her whole game.
Janelle Green – KC Power
This is a really fun KC Power team to watch. Janelle Green at the setter position runs such a smooth and spread out offense. She’s equipped with great ball control from her back line which allows her to cause some trouble with her deception. Green was critical in Power’s top five finish in Kansas City.
Avery Scoggins – Triangle
Despite losing out on a key contributor to the offense early on in this tournament, it was the play of Avery Scoggins that really made the difference. What could’ve been a total derailment, Scoggins ability to run the offense at such an efficient level and find ways to spread things out was outstanding.
Mya Ball – Team Pineapple
Finding their way into the top ten, Mya Ball was a big reason for Team Pineapple’s highlight weekend. Ball is a player that is really coming into her own as her career progresses. She is an incredible setter, that’s no argument. But it’s the other facets of the game that Ball brings that goes so far. From her serve, to her defense and offensive minded ways at the net, she’s a gamer.
Kirra Musgrove – Houston Skyline
The amount of left handed, offensive minded, setters in Kansas City this weekend was insane. Nonetheless, it was a great treat. Kirra Musgrove is as good as it gets when it comes to a setter that can do it all. Dishing the ball, to cranking on it for the point, you can’t take this player out of the game.
