The older sisters claimed a straight-set victory in a semifinal matchup loaded with Division I players. Six Pack’s 18U rolled to the title, winning al 12 sets its played.
That squad was headlined by sisters Payton Petersen Payton Petersen 6'0" | OH Dike-New Hartford | 2024 State #55 Nation IA (Louisville) and Jadyn Petersen Jadyn Petersen 5'9" | OH Dike-New Hartford | 2024 State #195 Nation IA (UNI). They performed at the high level we’ve become accustomed to seeing. They received plenty of help from Maryn Bixby Maryn Bixby 6'1" | MB Dike-New Hartford | 2024 State IA (UNI), Gabby Lombardi Gabby Lombardi 5'11" | RS Des Moines Christian | 2024 State IA (Fresno State), Emma Stammeyer Emma Stammeyer 5'8" | S Iowa City West | 2024 State IA (Fordham), Isabelle Elliott Isabelle Elliott 6'0" | OH Sumner-Fredericksburg | 2024 State #130 Nation IA (UNI) and others.
It will be interesting to monitor the college careers of the aforementioned standouts. Payton Petersen Payton Petersen 6'0" | OH Dike-New Hartford | 2024 State #55 Nation IA is off to the highest level at Louisville. Watching her game mature through the years, including the latest look here, there’s no doubt in my mind she’s ready.
Jadyn Petersen Jadyn Petersen 5'9" | OH Dike-New Hartford | 2024 State #195 Nation IA is intriguing because of her versatile skill set. She can play libero, as she did here, but her all-around skill set, including a mighty swing, likely will see her moving around the court in college.
Jadyn will team up with Bixby and Elliott with the Panthers. They’re both really rounding into form in terms of knowing what they can do and playing efficiently. Lombardi and Stammeyer are consistent setters with a chance to make noise on the next level.
Six Pack 17U certainly pushed the 18s at times. Abbey Hayes Abbey Hayes 6'2" | OH North Scott | 2025 State #82 Nation IA (Creighton), Annalise Grant Annalise Grant 5'5" | DS/L Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA (Iowa State), Carly Wazac Carly Wazac 6'1" | RS Prairie | 2025 State IA (Wichita State) and Ella Rogers Ella Rogers 6'1" | S Dowling | 2025 State IA (uncommitted) led the way for this talented team that finished third playing up an age group.
It’s great seeing ultra-talented juniors like Hayes, Grant and Wazac play free with their college decisions made. The head-scratcher here is that Rogers still is available. As a rock-solid setter with long arms, the ability to hit and block at the net, should be coveted on the recruiting trail. Some school will get a steal.
JVA finished between the two Six Packs squads in second place. Brynn Bishop Brynn Bishop 5'5" | DS/L Indianola | 2024 State IA , Marissa Gerleman Marissa Gerleman 5'10" | MB ADM | 2024 State IA , Tori Runyan Tori Runyan 5'9" | S Indianola | 2024 State IA and a sound group of players around them make this an interesting team.
Adrenaline 18 Deb/Brooke nailed down fifth place in the division. The entertaining team featured Natalee Hartman Natalee Hartman 5'7" | DS/L Marion | 2024 State IA , Brooke Ellyson Brooke Ellyson 5'10" | MB Mount Vernon | 2024 State IA , Carlee Webber Carlee Webber 6'0" | MB Marion | 2025 State IA and Sophia Paulsen.
That foursome could help out programs on the next level. Hartman stands out in the back row, Ellyson can swing it from the outside, Webber and Paulsen shine across the front row.
