I scouted four matches of Power League action. Here is the first of three reports on prospects I watched play.
One team that I saw play twice was Fight Club 16-1. Here is a group of fight clubbers who stood out.
Kya Behr Kya Behr 5'9" | S Great Bend | 2027 State KS , 5’9”, S/DS, Great Bend, ’27
Behr was one of the athletes I featured in a preview of the event and the Great Bend prospect did not disappoint. She is a quick and aggressive setter. Behr plays six rotations so she has a nice serve and she plays quality defense. She finished with double-digit assist totals in both of the matches I scouted. She finished with 11 assists against the Topeka Saints and 18 assists versus MAVS KC 16-1 squad. Look for her to shoot up the Class of 2027 rankings when they are updated.
Suttyn Harris Suttyn Harris 5'11" | MB Inman | 2026 State KS , 5’11”, OH, Inman, ’27
Harris is the type of player who exemplifies why I scout. She plays for Inman High School and back when I was in high school in the 90s is the type of small school athlete who very well probably would have fallen through the cracks. In 2024 this young lady is going to be scouted by Division I and Division II programs thanks to the internet and sites like Prep Dig. She is an all-around beast and looks 100% healthy. It was close to this time last club season that she suffered a knee injury. In two Power League matches she racked up a total of 15 kills, six digs, five serve receptions, and four aces.
Sofia Simic Sofia Simic 6'0" | OH Hoisington | 2027 State KS , 6’0”, OH, Hoisington, ’27
Simic would be the best player on a majority of club teams, on this team, she is just another elite player. She has quality speed for her size and can play six rotations. She caught my eye in Fight Club ‘s first match of the morning with a stat line that included eight kills, two digs, and three serve receptions. She stepped up her defensive game in the second match with 10 serve receptions and two blocks. The Hoisington prospect has a nice combination of reachability and bounciness. Simic is currently an unranked talent, but look for her to debut in the next Prep Dig update.
Hayden Grimes Hayden Grimes 5'9" | OH Andale | 2026 State KS , 5’9”, OH/DS, Andale, ’27
Grimes plays with high energy and the eye of a tiger. She was all over the court in both matches and his not afraid to sell out for digs. In Fight Club ‘s first match of the day she recorded five kills, four digs, three serve receptions, and three aces. During the second match of the day, she collected 10 digs, seven serve receptions, and one kill. Grimes has a nice platform and anticipates angles well when playing defense.
Mason Palace Mason Palace 6'1" | MB Kapaun Mt. Carmel | 2026 State KS , 5’11”, MB, Kapaun Mt. Carmel, ‘27
Palace shined like a queen with taped-up fists for Fight Club . This is the first time I believe I have seen her play and I was caught off guard by her net front presence. If she was a 6-foot or taller she would get noticed more easily, but don’t let her size fool you, because she has solid ups and nice reach. In two matches she finished with three kills and four blocks. Palace is also currently unranked, however, that will be remedied in the future.
