Behr is ranked No. 8 overall and is the third-ranked setter in the Kansas Class of 2027, but you could flip a coin between the top three setters to really determine who should be ranked higher. She dished out 805 assists and helped the Panthers qualify for the Class 5A State Tournament. She has already recorded 2,223 assists, and another 800-plus assist season would get her to the 3,000-assist benchmark. Behr is verbally committed to Washburn University.

The Great Bend Panthers are the farthest western team in the Class 5A field. They also had one of the toughest roads to get to the tournament, having to beat Andover Central to seal their bid. Behr is a sparkplug setter who is verbally committed to Washburn University. She has filled up her junior season stat line with 745 assists, 280 digs, and 132 kills in 82 sets played. Great Bend owns a record of 27-9 and will be the No. 6 seed. The Panthers played a much more difficult schedule in 2025 in preparation for the tournament. Six of their nine losses have come against state-qualifying teams, including three against Class 6A programs.

I am headed to Junction City to watch Behr and the Panthers play in their furthest eastern road trip of the season. Behr is one of the top setters in the state and has recorded 219 assists through 24 sets played. She is coming off a sophomore season with 800-plus assists and has over 1,600-career assists with a season and a half still to play. She appears not to be getting as many chances to hit this season, as she has just 36 kills in 24 sets. Last year, she finished with 211 kills. She is surrounded by a deep and talented Panthers’ roster. She is ranked No. 8 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027 and is verbally committed to Washburn University.

Behr has been my favorite setter in this class since I saw her compete as a freshman. The top two-ranked setters in this class have already committed to play for Division I programs. I have written about her frequently enough that I feel like I know her well, but I still learn new tidbits about her. She had posted eye-popping numbers on the softball diamond as a sophomore. The back of her card shows she hit .536, drove in 45 runs, scored 32 runs, and combined for 20 extra base hits, including two roundtrippers. Add those to her sophomore volleyball stats of 829 assists, 211 kills, and 284 digs, and you’ve got yourself one helluva prospect. The Panther junior is ranked No. 8 overall, is the third-highest-ranked setter, and in my book, is the top uncommitted volleyball player in the Kansas Class of 2027.

It might be difficult to catch Behr and the Panthers play this fall, but two of my favorite programs to drive and see are Great Bend and Beloit. Behr is an All-Star setter whom I enjoy watching compete. I know her high school career is starting to close in, so I hope to see her and the Panthers play this fall. To my knowledge, she is still uncommitted and take my word for it, a trip to Great Bend would be worthwhile to college coaches still hunting a ’27 setter.

Behr is currently the top-ranked setter in the Kansas Class of 2027. She eats, drinks, and sleeps volleyball. As much as I respect multisport athletes, I also respect athletes who figure out what path they want to take early and do everything they can to stay on that path. Behr finished her sophomore season with 829 assists and 211 kills. She has the skills to set at the collegiate level but can also hit hard enough and jump high enough to be a hitter.

Behr is another prospect who has made a long drive to attend this particular Showcase at the Dynasty complex in past years. She is currently the No. 1-ranked athlete in the Kansas Class of 2027. She loves her time on the court, and like Sands, other athletes gravitate to her. One might ask why a No. 1 ranked athlete would attend an event, and it’s because that athlete loves competition and the sport.

It is always a challenge for me to get out to western Kansas to scout, but this year I did make it west of Interstate 135 to scout the likes of Beloit, Ellinwood, and Great Bend. Watching Behr and the Panthers is like getting a homemade Chocolate Pecan Pie from my wife – a “sweet treat” that does not come around often enough. Behr is dangerous as a setter and hitter. She has a bright future ahead of her and I hope I find the time and means to catch the Panthers compete in 2025.

Behr is currently the No. 1 ranked setter in her class and the No. 1 overall ranked athlete by Prep Dig. She is a can’t-miss college prospect. She finished her sophomore season with a chunky stat line that included 829 assists, 211 kills, and 284 digs. Behr is an unselfish athlete, who will see it as a major letdown if the Panthers don’t win a state title before her high school career is over.
