We know a lot about Michigan’s strongest programs, but there’s still plenty of names to be looking out for from teams that aren’t as familiar around the state.
Here’s five players that you should be taking note of for what they are doing this club season.
Kylie Anderson Kylie Anderson 5'8" | S Mattawan | 2025 State MI , S FaR Out 17 Gold
Already a strong setter from the Mattawan program, Anderson has looked even stronger this club season for FaR Out while taking on some solid competition. Anderson is mixing up the offense well, getting a lot of high-percentage swings out of her outsides and middles. She’s got smooth delivery and can hit all the spots along the net to keep the defense off guard. Anderson’s defense and serving are also showing improvement, helping her become a better all-around player.
Caroline Best, OH NorthShore 17 Riptide
Best is a long and athletic outside hitter for NorthShore 17 Riptide, which has had some success in Club and Open division play in 2024. She’s able to bring a lot to the table with her size and athleticism. She covers a lot of ground in her approach to the net and generates consistent power. The Elk Rapids product has the ability to work the sideline and challenge the defense. Best is an aggressive player that wants the ball coming her way in big points. She shows a lot of competitive fire and a desire to get better.
Eleanor Goad, L/DS MVBTA 17-1 Black
The Michigan Volleyball Training Academy is racking up wins with its 17-1 Black squad in 2024. Goad has been a big reason as to why. The athletic libero is playing very well with her defense and serve receive. She’s looking very composed on the floor and is smooth in her delivery. Goad is also making a lot of good feeds to her hitters and has put together some solid momentum-shifting service runs. The dig totals are piling up quickly for the Rockford product.
Jordyn Hughes Jordyn Hughes 6'0" | MB Portage North | 2025 State MI , MH Dead Frog 17 Black
Coming off a huge prep season at Portage Northern, Hughes is lighting things up this club season with Dead Frog. Her arm speed can match anyone in the state, especially from the middle position. Hughes generates a ton of power, but her hang time allows her to come down over the top of the ball. The speed and angle make her nearly impossible to stop when she’s connecting with her setter, which is often. Hughes is also a big blocking force and sure to be a future college talent.
Malea Wourman Malea Wourman 5'8" | OH Milan | 2025 State MI , OH HVVC 17 Blue
Huron Valley Volleyball Club is having a nice run in 2024 with its 17 Blue squad. The team has had a pair of top-3 finishes in Club Division play and Wourman has been the offensive workhorse for the squad. The Milan product isn’t a stranger to taking a lot of swings and she’s doing more of the same this club season. Wourman has an aggressive back-row attack and combines that with good velocity at the net. She’s definitely leaving it all on the court and helping guide her team to some solid wins.
