Here is a report on five prospects I look forward to seeing play in the event. Stay tuned for multiple scouting reports covering Power League Play this weekend from Lawrence.
Nora Burdiek Nora Burdiek 5'10" | OH Rossville | 2027 State KS , 5’10”, OH, Rossville, ’27 (KS Networks 15-1)
Burdiek had a solids freshman season for the Rossville Dawgs. She racked up 312 kills in 87 sets played. Rossville was at one tournament I scouted, but in the opposite pool that I watched. I am very much looking forward to seeing her in club action.
Dasno Mills, 5’11”, MH/RS, Royal Valley, ’27 (KS Networks 15-1)
I did not see Royal Valley play last fall. Mills had an impactful freshman season recording 133 kills in 91 sets played. She had 50 aces last season, so I want to watch her serve closely in Power League action on Sunday.
Nola Sudbeck Nola Sudbeck 5'8" | MB Nemaha Central | 2027 State KS , 5’8”, MH/RS, Nemaha Central, ’27 (KS Networks 15-1)
Sudbeck caught my eye during the high school season. She plays for the Nemaha Central Thunder. I was impressed with the level of poise she plays with as just a freshman.
Piper Overman Piper Overman 5'9" | RS St. Mary's-Colgan | 2026 KS , 5’9”, RS, St. Mary’s-Colgan, ’27 ( Club MVP 15-1)
I have watched Overman’s HUDL highlights and the young lady can jump. She has size and plays a physical game. I want to see how she competes against Club teams with athletes from 6 and 5A schools.
Avery Barnett Avery Barnett 5'7" | MB Riverton | 2027 State KS , 5’7”, MH/RS, Riverton, ’27 ( Club MVP 15-1)
Riverton was a team that I was upset I did not end up seeing play last fall. Barnett had 85 kills and 24 blocks during her freshman campaign for the Rams.
