I scouted four matches of Power League action. Here is the second of three reports on prospects I watched play.
One of the tightest matches of the day came when perineal club powers Pohaku and KC Power squared off against each other. Here is a look at five prospects who stood out in Pohaku’s two-set victory.
Grace Martin Grace Martin 5'11" | OH St. Thomas Aquinas | 2026 State KS , 5’11”, OH, St. Thomas Aquinas, ’26 (Pohaku 16-1)
Martin is one of the top-ranked players in the Class of 2026 and she lived up to the hype. She is a six-rotation talent, who can pound a ball when she gets on top of it. She also plays at a fast pace and is a solid defensive player. She finished the match with nine digs, five kills, and seven serve receptions. I would like to see her work on her on-court communication, there were a couple of times that she took balls that teammates were planning on going after.
Willow Weninger Willow Weninger 6'1" | RS Blue Valley Southwest | 2026 State KS , 6’1”, RS, Blue Valley Southwest, ’26 (Pohaku 16-1)
Weninger is a solid hitter with a smooth approach. She collected four kills and three blocks in the win over KC Power . She does a good job of staying out of the net and has quick reactions to 50/50 balls at the net. The Blue Valle Southwest prospect looks like a college player to me, the question is at what level? She has plenty of time to continue to improve her skills and add some upper-body strength.
Neely Leathers Neely Leathers 5'10" | S Olathe West | 2026 State KS , 5’10”, S, Olathe West, 26 ( KC Power 16-1)
Leathers was one of the most impressive setters at during the matches I scouted and is arguably the best defensive setter of the bunch. She has improved since the high school season and meshes well with her club teammates. Leathers filled up her stat line with eight assists, seven digs, two serve receptions, and one kill. She also had one super sweep short floating serve that nose-dived and resulted in an ace. It was the scariest serve of the day and was moving like a knuckleball.
Chloe Kmiecik Chloe Kmiecik 6'1" | MB De Soto | 2026 State KS , 6’2”, MH, De Soto, ’26 ( KC Power 16-1)
Kmiecik was the top middle-hitter that I saw play on Sunday. She swings hard and makes the ball cry after crunching it. She is a front-row-only prospect who has a high ceiling. She had a team-high seven kills for the Power. Kmiecik is an athlete whose ranking should improve when Prep Dig updates the Kansas rankings for the Class of 2026.
Corinne Schwindt Corinne Schwindt 5'8" | DS/L Mill Valley | 2026 State KS , 5’8”, L, Mill Valley, ’26 ( KC Power 16-1)
Schwindt was one of my favorite liberos from Sunday’s action. She has quick feet and moves well laterally. She made consistent first passes and is a sure-fire college libero given the chance. The Mill Valley prospect racked up 11 serve receptions, five digs, and two aces.
