Prep Dig was in attendance on Saturday, when we went to the FAST Complex, to take a look at the matches in the U16s divisions. It was a very strong field, with some interesting talent, and we’ll take the week to feature the players that stood out and raised their stocks against tough competition.
These were some of the most impressive outside hitters in action at the event:
Taliah Benson
Taliah Benson
Benson helped her team AVA TX 16 Adidas go undefeated on Saturday, winning all three matches to finish first in the division. Her offensive power was a huge asset for the team, who turned to the heavy-armed pin hitter every time they were in trouble. Benson was excellent swinging from the left and the middle back position and didn’t hold anything back in big moments. The pin hitter also had some long serving runs during the day, but showed there’s some room for improvement with her passing as she had a few difficult moments with that.
Kennedy Reddin

Reddin and her HJV 15 Premier team were the big surprises of the day, getting an excellent second-place finish with two wins and a loss despite playing one age group up. The pin hitter was an integral part of their success as she provided the team great stability on both sides of the ball. Reddin used her length well at the net, scored in difficult situations and remained calm even when under pressure. She also got the job done defensively, passing well when she was targeted by opponents and getting touches on defense.
Hadley Holchak
Hadley Holchak
Holchak pushed Katy United 16 Adidas to a solid third-place finish with two wins and one loss with her consistent play. A very technical player, she extrapolated her original role of giving volume to the team with her passing and contributed on both sides of the ball. Holchak covered a lot of ground in serve-receive, but also held her own at the net, making a strong approach and making good decisions to beat blockers and defenders. The outside hitter also displayed a high volleyball IQ and solid leadership, instructing her teammates.

Walden was the main offensive player of her Texas Tornados 16 Adidas team that ranked fifth with a pair of wins and a loss. She first emerged as a strong player at the net last season, but has been making great progress and adding new tools to her offensive game. A six-footer, Walden makes contact with the ball at a very high point and is very difficult to defend when she gets into a rhythm because of her ability to swing straight down. She’s also more confident and productive with her passing and defense.
Sai Posey
Sai Posey
Posey was one of the standouts in her Houston Skyline 16 White team that got a seventh-place finish with a win and two losses. She combined physical and technical skills in a very nice way and proved to offer great value to her team. Posey covered nearly half of the court in serve-receive on some rotations and did an excellent job of keeping her team in system. Offensively, she used her athleticism extremely well to get off the floor and swing hard, but also displayed great vision to find spots to put the ball down.
