The Thunder recently finished 4-2 in the Central Zone Invitational in Indianapolis taking third in the Gold Bracket in the 16 Club Red Division out of 32 teams the first weekend in February. The team had gone 3-1 in the Early Bird Shootout in the same location earlier in January.
Kendale Lair had 32 kills and 12 aces to lead the Thunder in the Central Zone Invitational. Lair played a big role for Beechwood as a defensive specialist and outside hitter. She will primarily play a hitter role for the Thunder. Lair finished third with 251 digs and fourth with 182 kills for the Tigers in the fall.
Victoria Sebald Victoria Sebald 5'6" | DS/L Villa Madonna | 2026 KY had 94 assists and 34 digs as a setter and defensive specialist in the Central Zone Invitational. She primarily played defensive specialist for Villa Madonna in the fall, finishing third on the team with 151 digs and second with 40 aces.
Ella Thompson from Waynesville (Ohio) had 26 kills and only eight hitting errors to aid the cause at the Central Zone. Thompson will primarily play hitter for the Thunder. She finished second for Waynesville in both 175 kills with 175 and dugs with 172.
St. Ursula sophomore Emerson Majors had 45 digs, nine aces and 14 assists at Central Zone. She is expected to contribute at setter and defensive specialist similar to Sebald.
Alexis Stephens Alexis Stephens S Heritage Academy | 2026 KY is also expected to help at setter and outside hitter. She played defensive specialist and outside hitter this past fall for Heritage Academy and led the Eagles with 136 kills and 222 digs.
St. Ursula’s Reese Majors, Mason’s Alana Murphy and Turpin’s Emily Hall hope to provide depth for the Thunder at defensive specialist. Reese Majors and Murphy also hope to contribute at outside hitter and Hall hopes to contribute at right side hitter.
Two outside hitters round out the roster in Lillian Fite from New Richmond and Emma Bechtol from West Clermont. Bechtol will also play on the right side and Fite hopes to see time at middle blocker being the team’s tallest player at 5-11.
The team heads to Columbus, Ohio over the weekend for the Presidents Day Tournament.

Kendale Lair
Lair played a big role for Beechwood this past season as both a hitter and defensive specialist. She will primarily be a hitter with NKYVC 16-4 Thunder. Has a nice hit from the left pin to the back right. Can do a number of things from the pins. Records kills from the back row. Gives teams fits with a nice jump serve to the back row. Does a nice job getting in position to make solid passes. Lair finished third with 251 digs, fourth with 182 kills for the Tigers in the fall and sixth with 30 aces.
Sebald has been an all-around player on the varsity level since the seventh grade at both Villa Madonna and club volleyball. Sebald joined the Villa Madonna varsit team as a freshmen. She finishing third on the team with 151 digs and second with 40 aces. As a setter, has a nice dump to catch opponents off-guard. She puts the ball in the middle and toward the lines. Has a hard serve that is often hard to handle.
Highlights
Stephens has a nice kill shot near the line. She does a great job adapting to the setter’s passes. She played defensive specialist and outside hitter this past fall for Heritage Academy and led the Eagles with 136 kills and 222 digs.
Thompson will primarily play hitter for the Thunder. Thompson has a nice follow-through on her swings and does a great job timing blocks to hit balls off them and on the other side of the net. Can tip over hitters to give opponents something extra to consider. She finished second for Waynesville in both 175 kills with 175 and dugs with 172.
