Here’s how it works: I’ll pop up a random number generator that includes the 2025 rankings. I’ll generate 10 numbers and the 10 that come up will be the ranking of the player. I’ll then spotlight those players in the article to help give them some more attention.
There’s 141 players ranked in our Class of 2025. Let’s see who has the lucky numbers this month:
29. Sydney Bates Sydney Bates 5'11" | S Portage Northern | 2025 State MI , S Portage Northern/Dead Frog
Bates (College of Charleston) has been rolling this club season with a Dead Frog 17 Black squad that is putting a lot of teams on notice. Dead Frog has some explosive middles and a lot of offensive depth that is pieced together very well by Bates. The 5’11” setter has found another gear for her temp while being able to bring the best out of each of her hitters.
96. Sophia Kellogg Sophia Kellogg 5'8" | OH Plymouth Christian | 2025 State MI , OH Plymouth Christian/Michigan Elite
Kellogg is a well-coached outside that has all of the baseline skills you need in a six-rotation player. She’s athletic, quick and attentive. Her defensive play matches her offensive play, and her offensive play is very consistent. Kellogg can finish from anywhere on the court, even with out-of-system balls. She’s able to put a good swing on every ball and stay within herself each time the ball comes her way.
53. Tina Barnekova Tina Barnekova 5'10" | MB Rochester Adams | 2025 State MI , MH/OH Rochester Adams/Michigan Elite
Barnekova has tapped into being an outside during the club season and she’s bringing the same intensity and power she has shown as a middle during the prep season. Barnekova is very explosive off the floor and is aggressive in her approach. Her arm speed matches those same characteristics and she is determined to win every matchup she’s in and give her team a needed shot in the arm.
34. Lexi Armstrong Lexi Armstrong 5'8" | S Hudsonville | 2025 State MI , S/DS Hudsonville/FaR Out
Armstrong has been able to be a standout defender or setter in her time on the floor. This club season she is shining as a libero for FaR Out 17 Black. In either role, Armstrong shows a lot of quickness and spryness. She’s also a good communicator on the floor, allowing her to direct traffic well. As the libero, she’s been very impactful with her first contact and getting the ball to the setter cleanly. Armstrong has also been a big asset with her serve.
100. Alyssa Krol Alyssa Krol 5'4" | DS/L Cedar Springs | 2025 State MI , DS/L Cedar Springs/FaR Out
Krol is another player that can set as well, but she’s in a DS role with FaR Out 17 Black this club season. She’s been a consistent player for FaR Out, holding down the center area of the back row well while working alongside Armstrong. Krol’s serve receive has been a valuable asset and she’s also bringing a serve that can turn the tide in a match.
18. Elyse Heffner Elyse Heffner 6'1" | MB Traverse City Central | 2025 State MI , MH/OH Traverse City Central/FaR Out
Heffner is a dynamic hitter that is already committed to South Alabama. This club season she is playing up with FaR Out 18 Black and able to showcase that she can play all over the net. The 6’1” hitter has been lightning fast in the middle, getting power shots off in the blink of an eye, before defenders can react. She’s also been very active with her blocking and finishing points with her quick reactions to a 50-50 ball.
133. Mia DeVries Mia DeVries 5'11" | MB Grandville | 2025 State MI , MH Grandville/FaR Out
DeVries has good hand-eye coordination and the natural athleticism to put down a good attack. Her swing is technically sound. Where she can continue to improve is picking up on the pacing of her play and decision-making. As her tempo steps up to that next level, her game is sure to do the same and she could be a real breakout player over the next year.
74. Abigail Wutka Abigail Wutka 5'11" | OH Macomb Dakota | 2025 State MI , OH Dakota/Michigan Elite
Wutka has been one of the more powerful hitters in this class and that hasn’t changed. She’s got a smooth swing that generates a lot of velocity. She doesn’t need a clean set to get off a power swing, either. Wutka has shown improvement in her serve receive and defensive instincts this club season to become a more polished all-around player.
45. Chloe Aalfs Chloe Aalfs 5'10" | OH Buchanan | 2025 State MI , OH Buchanan/Dunes
As part of the Dunes club in Indiana, Aalfs is building off a great prep season with Buchanan. She helped lead Dunes 17 Black to a second-place finish in the 17 American Division at MEQ. She came down with 74 kills on the weekend and was finishing at a high rate from either pin. Aalfs is playing with a lot of confidence right now and it is showing in her seamless swings.
11. Marie Laurio Marie Laurio 5'10" | OH Saline | 2025 State #147 Nation MI , OH Saline/Legacy
The Syracuse commit has raised her play up another level this club season as being a primary outside target for Cambell Flynn as part of Legacy 17-1 ADIDAS. Laurio’s elevation off the floor is right there with anyone in the class. She’s always flying high at the net. However, she’s show the ability to quickly adjust from a power swing to offspeed attack mid-flight, and is making sure she finds a home for a high percentage of her attacks.
