Here’s five names that you need to keep an eye on as they are thriving during the 2024 club season.
Jeana Lenhard Jeana Lenhard 6'0" | OH Essexville Garber | 2027 State MI , OH Five:1 15 Black
Five:1 has been playing just about as well as anyone in the 15U division in the state this year. The wins are piling up and Lenhard has been the driving force on the outside. The team truly has a special talent with her. The 6-footer has displayed a full arsenal of shots, along with the athleticism and quickness to be a dominant player on offense and defense. Lenhard is getting plenty of opportunities to shine this club season and she’s making the most of it.
Akylah Marshall Akylah Marshall 5'9" | OH Saline | 2027 MI , OH HVVC 15 Blue
Huron Valley Volleyball Club has some nice potential breakout stars and they are showing as much in 2024. Marshall is one of those players, as you can see a lot of natural gifts in her swing and her play. She’s very quick and athletic, while being able to move around the court efficiently. At the net, Marshall is very explosive and generates a lot of power through a pretty technically strong swing. I think Marshall is going to benefit from the speed of play continuing to pick up through her prep and club career. She looks ready to take on a greater challenge.
Ava Richert, L High Performance Nike 15-2
High Performance has been having success with its High Performance 15U teams, Nike 15-2 included. A credit to their play goes to the defensive effort of Richert, who stays very spry in the back court. She’s locked in and focused through every point. Richert is able to make the easy plays look easier and some of the tough plays still look easy too. She’s got the technical aspects of her game set. Her form is where it needs to be, she just needs to keep improving on her speed and instincts as the pace of play picks up.
Alexa Turner Alexa Turner 5'9" | S St Mary's Catholic Central Monroe | 2027 MI , S/RS LevelUp 15 Black
LevelUp has been picking up a lot of wins in the Club Division this year and the play of Alexa Turner Alexa Turner 5'9" | S St Mary's Catholic Central Monroe | 2027 MI can certainly be tied to that. Turner shows a lot of diversity in her play, being able to run a smooth offense when at setter, but then being able to dial up some big swings at the net when on the outside. Turner just has a natural feel for the game and looks very comfortable in both roles. She’s also helping her teammates improve on their pace of play to match her level. She’s definitely a bright star to keep an eye on.
Aykina Weatherspoon, OH HaiFive 15-1
Weatherspoon is a very promising outside/middle option coming out of the HaiFive program. The 15-1 team is picking up some solid win totals this year and Weatherspoon has been a big factor. Already with good length at around 6-foot, Weatherspoon has a lot of good blocking instincts. She battles hard at the net defensively and is someone opponents definitely have to plan around. Offensively, Weatherspoon has good power on her attacks, but she’s working to craft her offensive to match her defensive ability. As she gets more polished and develops more swing options, she’s going to be a prospect for the next level.
