With one of the best in the nation leading the way, there’s quite a few setters that have been lost in the shuffle for the praise they deserve.
Here’s five 2025 setters to keep an eye on going forward.
Lili Smith Lili Smith 5'11" | S Flushing | 2025 State MI , Flushing/Michigan Elite
Smith has been a setter/hitter combo player that has a lot of good instincts and athleticism. As a hitter, she’s able to adapt very well to the play and attack from anywhere around the net. That athleticism also translate well to her play as a setter, where she’s able to push a good pace and make accurate feeds when in difficult situations.
Cali Stevons Cali Stevons 5'6" | S Dewitt | 2025 State MI , DeWitt/MVA
Stevons is a great asset for any team she’s been on. Along with being a solid and consistent setter, Stevons has a defensive skillset that’s at a high level as well. A determined player with good communication, Stevons stays very active on the court, covering a lot of space and knowing how to get good position to make an accurate set or a difficult pass.
Samantha Roffi Samantha Roffi 5'6" | S Garden City | 2025 State MI , Garden City/Michigan Elite
Roffi is a really scrappy player that excels as a setter and a defender. For Garden City, Roffi mixes up her sets and locations well and remains unpredictable with her dumps. As a defender, Roffi shows good reaction time and clean first contact. One area she is able to excel is improvised plays. Roffi makes the most out of any situation and succeeds with 50-50 balls at the net.
Anna Rich Anna Rich 5'10" | S Troy | 2025 State MI , Troy/High Performance
Rich is another setter/hitter combo player that brings a lot of leadership with her play on the court. Rich is an agile player that can run a fast offense as a setter, but she’s got a powerful swing as well that makes her a dual-threat at all times. At 5’10” with a lot of length, Rich has the ability to make a lot of different shots to beat the defense.
Maddy Kreider Maddy Kreider 5'8" | S Kingsford | 2025 State MI , Kingsford/FC Elite
Kreider is a player really flying under the radar. Being up in the Great White North, Kreider may get lost in the shuffle of coverage. However, when you watch her film, you can see she brings a lot to the court. Kreider can place a smooth set from anywhere and really hits the right pin nicely. She’s got a lot of quickness and explosiveness, which allows her to stay ahead of the defense. Speaking of defense, Kreider is a bit of a dig machine in the back row. The same instincts that make her a good setter apply to her passing and serve receive.
