Continue ReadingThe Class of 2026 is definitely not short on talent. The class is filled with hitters that will go on to the next level.
But, those hitters can’t do what they do without reliable setters getting them the ball. Here’s five setters that are proving they can raise their game to the next level as well.
Makayla Bruman Makayla Bruman 5'10" | S Imlay City | 2026 State MI , Imlay City
Bruman has a really good grasp of the offense she runs and the hitters she is paired with. There’s a really nice touch off her sets that have given her pin hitters the ability to put a big swing on the ball. Bruman has also shown the ability to adjust well to shaky passes and still get a clean set off that can lead to a kill.
Emma Duffy Emma Duffy 5'6" | S Lakewood | 2026 State MI , Lakewood/FaR Out
Duffy is a well-coached and well-polished setter that can make as much of an impact with her defensive play as she does with her setting ability. In either phase, Duffy plays with a lot of poise and control. She’s a step ahead of defenses when running the offense and doesn’t tip her hand. Hitters get great swings out of her sets and her instincts as a passer and in serve receive are high-level.
Chloe Burns Chloe Burns 5'9" | S Dexter | 2026 State MI , Dexter/Michigan Elite
Burns shows a lot of agility on the floor and has done a good job of hitting her back sets with a lot of accuracy. With that, Burns looks to have a lot of comfort and confidence on the floor and that’s getting a lot of quality swings out of her hitters. Burns also stays active with her defense and stays laser-focused on the play at all times.
Rylie Barriger Rylie Barriger 5'7" | S Lowell | 2026 State MI , Lowell/FaR Out
Barriger ran the Lowell offense this fall and she really connected well with her primary middle, Piper Risdon Piper Risdon 5'11" | MB Lowell | 2024 State MI . Barriger helped guide her to hitting close to .400 on the season. Barriger has her quick sets down to a science. Her opportunity to run the offense has raised her game by leaps and bounds in the last year and should lead to some great things ahead as she become a floor general for Lowell.
Delaney Gilmore Delaney Gilmore 5'9" | S Brighton | 2026 State MI , Brighton/L2
Gilmore is a setter/hitter combo and she’s able to get into a good groove at both positions. As a hitter, Gilmore has a consistent pop on her attack and she places the ball well around the court. As a setter, Gilmore adapts very well with the play and identifies the hot hitter on the court. She’s consistent with her locations and making sure her hitters can get high-percentage swings.
