Krush VBC 18 National won the 18 American Division of the event, going a perfect 10-0 in matches while winning 20 of 22 sets.
It was a solid fight to the title for Niles-based club, as it needed three sets to win in the semifinal and finals. The championship was a 22-25, 26-24, 15-7 win over Alabama Performance.
It was a balanced performance that led Krush to the title in the final, but you got to see some players rise up in the later stages of the match.
Marley Annis Marley Annis 5'8" | OH South Bend Saint Joseph | 2024 State IN , a Slippery Rock commit out of Indiana, really shined to close out the match. The outside put down four kills in the final set, including in three of the final five points for Krush. She also had a block to set-up championship point. Annis got into a nice flow when the team needed her most and her setters did a good job of getting her the ball.
Speaking of the setters, both Lexi Schimpa and Ashley Strefling Ashley Strefling 5'5" | S River Valley | 2024 MI did a great job in their play as part of a 2-setter system for Krush. The first contact for the team was an issue for stretches, but both did a good job to adjust quickly and give their hitters a chance to put a ball away. They worked the court well, really pushing the right side at times while also mixing in some back-row attacks.
Drew Glaser Drew Glaser 6'1" | OH Edwardsburg | 2024 State MI , a powerful lefty, was the tone setter in the final set of the final, as she put down three kills to open the scoring for Krush. Glaser was also an active part of the blocking that helped the Krush offense stay in-system. The front row picked up a lot of opposing attacks and slowed them down significantly.
Bree Lake, Alyssa Carson Alyssa Carson 6'2" | MB Buchanan | 2025 State MI and Ava Decker were all very active in the blocking through the middle and each showcased some powerful swings at the net. Kadence Brummitt was very active on the outside as well and came through with some back-row kills. She’s a very scrappy player that did everything in her power to make plays. She brought a lot of energy to the team when it needed a pick up.
Libero Amelia Florkowski played at a high level as well. Opponents tried to stay away from her as best they could, but she made sure to have an impact. Florkowski handled the out-of-system plays very well and got solid feeds to the hitters to still make something of the offense. When she got a chance to take on opposing attacks, the offense hummed and that allowed for the wide gap in the third set.
