Here is the second report of multiple reports from those matches. Several of the athletes I watched today will find themselves in the initial Kansas Class of 2028 ranking which are scheduled to be released in April.
This report focuses on a group of athletes who play for the Manhattan Mayhem 14-1 squad.
Raicee Lipker Raicee Lipker 5'5" | S Clay Center | 2028 State KS , 5’5”, S, Clay Center
This was the first time I had seen the Mayhem play. They won a two-set match against the S2K Gladiators. I enjoyed Lipker’s game. She might be the best all-around athlete on this club. She filled up her stat line with two kills, two digs, one serve reception, and two aces. She plays with poise and communicates well on the court.
Bryleigh Brockman Bryleigh Brockman 5'8" | MB Blue Valley (Randolph) | 2028 State KS , 5’8”, MB, Blue Valley
Like the Central Kansas Rampage, who I featured in the first report of the day, the Manhattan club features a set of twin sisters. Both of their names both start with the letter B just like the Rampage pair. I guess that makes “B” the Sesame Steet Cookie Monster Letter of The Day. Bryleigh wears No. 6 for the Mayhem and is the better hitter of the two. She finished with four kills and two digs in the win.
Bralynn Brockman, 5’8”, OH, Blue Valley
Bralynn is a tad quicker than her sister, but her game is not quite as polished yet. She finished with two kills in the win. Both Brockman sisters are competitive and will be solid additions to their high school roster. Bralynn has a big reach, she just needs to work on slowing the game down and smoothing out her approach.
Jayli Liby, 5’2”, DS/L, Clay Center
Liby is scrappy player and one that I could argue needs more court time. She finished with four serve receptions and two digs in the early Saturday win. She has one of the most consistent serves on the squad. It’s low and nose dives after it gets over the net.
