Our featured prospects attract attention and ‘likes’ from a diverse array of colleges, ranging from D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO. While highlight clips are informative, they often miss the essence of a player’s personality and character. At PrepDig, we take a proactive approach, encouraging our athletes to actively participate in their recruitment exposure within our articles.
When a player earns the title of ‘Prospect to Watch,’ we reach out, extending an invitation to share their unique voice and perspective. We firmly believe that this transcends mere highlights, offering colleges a deeper understanding of the athlete as a whole. This article also offers players, parents, and coaches a window into the character of our prospects. It’s with great pleasure that I present to you the voices of some of our standout Prospects to Watch.

Being on a team is the best feeling in the world, and it’s what ultimately drew me to volleyball a few years ago. I am a class of 2027 freshman from San Marcos, California, and playing up an age group on my Club’s 16-1s team. I started as a Middle on my 13s (because I was easily a foot taller than everyone else a couple years ago), transitioned to OH at 15s, worked a ton on my passing, and now contributing everything I can as a 6 rotation Outside Hitter and I’m loving every minute of it.
My coaches describe me as a vocal leader who leads by example on and off the court, and has a reputation for executing in high pressure situations. I’ve grown up in San Diego my whole life. I love going to the beach, adventuring outdoors, and traveling with friends and family. I spend a lot of time on my studies, fit in strength & agility training with Odyssey Performance (@embraceodyssey) at least 2 times a week, and play indoor & beach volleyball for San Marcos High School.
I am grateful to PrepDigCA for the recognition in this article, and continue to be challenged by the incredible volleyball talent within SCVA (@sscvavolleyball). I truly am lucky to compete against the best high school athletes in our sport, and it’s all right here in Southern California.
My team will be attending the Red Rock Rave (3/30-4/1), and the Northeast Qualifier in Philadelphia (4/26-4/28).
A quote that my dad shared with me years ago, that applies to teamwork, and relates perfectly to our sport of volleyball is, “The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.” – Babe Ruth
Thank you PrepDig!!

Quote from Kerri Walsh Jennings. I got to meet her last summer when I won the 1440 Beach Nationals. She has done so much for the sport of volleyball and is an amazing person! “Dream big, work, hard, and never give up. The only limits are the ones you set for yourself.” Kerri Walsh Jennings
On the court, I have so much passion for the game of volleyball. I love the sport, and I love lifting my teammates up and celebrating loudly with them. Off the court, I enjoy making my teammates, friends, and family laugh. I have an older sister on the Wave 16-1s that I look up to so much, JoJo Wilson. She is an amazing sister and has taught me so much about volleyball.

I really focus on next play mentality and I think this is a huge contributor to me having success on the court. Whether I made a good play for bad I find it really important to always have my mind in the current play rather than ones in the past or future.

Michael Jordan once said: “If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” I love this quote because the greatest performing athletes always find ways to get around those walls with relentless pursuit of their goals. I often remind myself that I have to be willing to struggle to be successful on this journey to becoming a top performer. Fortunately, I am someone who LOVES going to practices, doing private lessons, setting clinics, and any extra reps I can get!
My name is Blair Gardiner Blair Gardiner 5’8″ | S Santa Fe Christian | 2026 State CA and I’m a 2026 Setter with a 4.25 GPA. I’m the starting setter for SoCal Athletics Volleyball Club on the 16-1s (Beacons), and attend Santa Fe Christian in Solana Beach CA. In my family, volleyball is more than just a game…It’s a tradition. My Mom was a former D1 All-American and collegiate volleyball coach. Her influence has been monumental for me. I have such a love for the sport, and as a setter, my approach goes beyond just technique. I focus on reading the game, outsmarting opponents, and consistently staying one move ahead. I am always studying video on how to better myself and my team’s offense.
This season at SoCal 16-1, we’ve hit the ground running (currently 17th) in the SCVA and are very excited for our upcoming major events:
-Red Rock Rave from March 30-April 1
-NEQ – Philadelphia – April 26-28
-GJNC July 3-6
I’m so excited to see what the rest of this season has in store for my team. And I can’t wait to travel and compete!
