Held at the Salt Palace Convention Center and live streamed via BallerTV, this event is amazing! This article series will discuss some of the players that turned the heads of the court coaches and scouts that were in attendance. Let’s see who earned the Top Performer award from the showcase.
Eleanor Garcia [2028] 5-9 Outside (HS: Carondelet/Club: Vision/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Eleanor is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet for her grad class. She will play volleyball for Carondelet High School and also plays club for the Vision volleyball program. Being only an eighth grader playing with older players during the showcase might scare some players away and not let them be at their best, but not Miss Garcia. It looked as if she wanted the spotlight on her during the entire showcase. I loved that for the entire two-hour session she was all smiles. Her attacking was on another level compared to others in her grad class. When I stood by her court, I was amazed at her vertical and lightning quick arm swing that unloaded fury on the ball. Her skill set proved that she can also play in the middle if need be. Her long arms help her to be a very dynamic blocker at the net. I love how she keeps them very high during her load and then presses them over to seal away the net from would be point scorers. As the scouting director for California, I will for sure keep my eye on her progress over the next few years. Please help us congratulate her on earning the Top Performer award at the showcase.
Bailey Casas [2027] 5-5 Libero (HS: Riviera Prep/Club: Miami Hype/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Bailey is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Florida State Rankings, but that is only because they have not been released yet. She plays volleyball for Riviera Prep High School and also plays club for the Miami Hype volleyball program. Miss Casas showed a relentless pursuit of the ball in the back row for her team and also while in the positional drills. I loved how she kept her posture very low even when moving backward. Very rarely did she raise her shoulders during contact of the ball. This will keep the ball moving forward toward her setter when she passes or plays defense. One of her court coaches mentioned that she had amazing balance while moving toward the ball. They also mentioned that she stayed on the balls of her feet, which kept her super quick and not stationary while on defense. Showing a natural touch on the ball during serve receive, she kept her team in system while on offense. Her setter were the recipient of some awesomely passed volleyballs for them to set to their hitters. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase.
Korynn Mayo [2027] 5-11 Outside (HS: Marina/Club: United/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Korynn is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She plays at Marina High School and plays club for the United volleyball program. I am not sure if anyone attacked the ball with more power than Miss Mayo at the showcase. The way she violently attacked the ball with such force almost made me feel sorry for the ball. The thunderous attacks kept coming all night along toward her opponents and they were rarely dug or blocked. When the ball was touched by a blocker, it normally went out of bounds for a tooled score. She is the type of player that can fill up the stat sheet in a hurry with kills and blocks. The most astounding part of her game is how agile she is at attacking out of the back row with power. While most younger players need a perfect set in order to take a full approach, Korynn is able to attack well while only taking one or two steps and jumping to swing. We will for sure put her on our rankings when her grad class gets released. I will be keeping my eye on her as she continues to progress in her volleyball journey and you should also. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase.
