This week, the destination of many teams will be Kansas City, Missouri, where the first of two weekends of the traditional ASICS Show Me Qualifier will take place from Friday to Sunday – 731 teams are entered to compete in the ten divisions in the 15s, 16s and 17s age group.
Texas teams will, of course, also make the trip North to fight for their spots and, as we’ve been doing with every major Qualifier, we’ll highlight some of the top prospects of the Lone Star State that will be on the court over the weekend. These liberos have difference-making potential in their games:
‘AG’ Cockrill will help her team Texas Legacy 15 Elite navigate the 15 Open division in Kansas City. Her defensive game is extremely well-developed and consistent and makes of her team a very difficult one to score at. Cockrill is an elite defender, combining excellent positioning, impressive reflexes and outstanding ball control, and also works very hard to keep the ball off the floor. Her passing is precise and consistent, which helps keep the team in system. The libero also makes an impact from the service line with her tricky floaters, consistently getting opponents out of system.

Robinson will lead the backcourt efforts of her team Texas Tornados 16 Adidas in the 16 USA division. She plays with great energy and efficiency and is one of their pillars when it comes to generating defensive volume. Robinson can play defense on the left or the middle back positions and is extremely agile and efficient with her action. Also a solid passer, the libero sets with precision in transition and is very disciplined when covering her hitters.

Ngo is the libero of the Houston Stellar 16 Elite team that will play in the 16 USA division in Kansas City. She’s a key piece in the team’s serve-receive system, covering a huge portion of the court and delivering the ball with precision to her setters. Ngo is very technical and quick and can get to balls people wouldn’t expect when playing defense. She never loses focus on the game and is always ready to step up and make plays for her team. The libero is confident enough to handset in transition and typically delivers accurate balls for her hitters to swing.
Meador switched clubs this season and will be with the APV 17 National Black team that will be in the 17 USA division. She’s excellent at playing defense in the left back position and has an impressive variety of defensive moves, which she uses to keep the ball off the floor. Meador is very quick to react and that gives her a better chance to dig quick sets in the middle, tips and deflected shots. The libero is very confident and reliable with her passing and typically gets to cover a larger area of the court than her teammates at serve-receive.

She can play defense on the left or the middle and is very effective with her defensive actions, getting a lot of touches and displaying excellent ball control to make digs.
