Here at PrepDig, we’re diving deep into the realm of sibling rivalry, ready to spill the beans on the untold tales, secret rituals, and heartfelt moments that shape this extraordinary sisterly dynamic both on and off the court.
Meet the Ogbechie sisters, Manaia, Masina, and Malie.
These three exceptional young women exemplify talent both on and off the volleyball court. Manaia and Masina demonstrated their skills during their successful high school season at Oaks Christian, securing an impeccable 10-0 league title. Meanwhile, Malie flourished on her middle school team, refining her abilities in a less intense environment. In their club pursuits, they are all making significant progress at the

Volleyball Club in Thousand Oaks, California. Manaia, bound for Northwestern University, continues to refine her game and dominate in the middle. Masina’s flawless block timing and commanding court presence have earned her recognition as one of the top recruits in the gym. Malie closely follows her sisters, displaying unwavering dedication to skill enhancement.
Beyond their athletic achievements, these three are academic powerhouses with exceptionally high GPAs. Moreover, all three are actively involved in various philanthropic causes and are earnestly seeking opportunities to enhance their collegiate experiences.
The 2022 AAU Nationals: A Memorable Start
The 2022 AAU Nationals marked a pivotal moment in the volleyball journey of Manaia, Masina, and Malie, three sisters whose bond transcends the sport. What commenced as a dire situation for Manaia’s team, depleted by illness and in need of players, evolved into a memorable experience as her sisters rose to the challenge. Masina, accustomed to U13 volleyball, found herself thrust into U15 play, while Malie, at just 11 years old, assumed the role of team libero, albeit from the sidelines. Despite the absurdity of the circumstances, filled with laughter and cringe-worthy moments, the sisters forged deeper bonds, finding strength in each other’s company amidst the tournament chaos.
The Power of Ritual: Masina and Manaia’s Pre-Game Handshake
One enduring symbol of the sisters’ unity and determination is their pre-game handshake ritual, born out of necessity at the 2022 AAU Nationals and continued with unwavering dedication ever since. Before each match and every set, Masina and Manaia execute their handshake with precision, embodying the harmony and cohesion essential for success on the volleyball court. This ritual serves as a reminder of their shared objectives and the fierce determination required to achieve them, as they seamlessly align their blocks and communicate effectively, poised to dominate the court as a dynamic duo.
The Hunter Mentality: Malie, Masina, and Manaia’s Journey to Greatness
Describing the sisters as hunters is fitting, as their prowess on the volleyball court resonates in every aspect of their play. Despite their young ages, Malie effortlessly masters the art of ball control at just 14 years old, while Masina showcases formidable blocking abilities at only 15. Manaia shares, “The trajectory they’re on knows no bounds; the horizon holds limitless potential for them. I love my sisters, and I am so proud to know they’re not just my sisters, but invaluable teammates in volleyball and companions in life. The prospect of their future achievements, when they inevitably outgrow me in size, stature, speed, and intellect (if such a feat is possible), fills me with enjoyment and excitement. Their journey is one I eagerly await, knowing it will be nothing short of extraordinary.”
Manaia, we deeply appreciate you sharing your words with our readers. Our heartfelt wishes for success go out to Malie, Masina, and Manaia as we eagerly anticipate following your continued journey.
